looking for vary accurate 22

ok accurate for 1000 or less i guess, now looking at a tacticool 22 aswell (girlfriend said if i get a new 22 she gets one too, and she likes tacticool)

Ok, so you get a "accurate" CZ or Savage or Marlin, bolt action .22 LR and get her a Ruger SR22 so she can have the reliable semi-auto "tacticool" firearm. Everybody comes out a 'winnier"...

He said very accurate. 10/22 can manage tea saucer at 50 but not much better.

Marlin for excellent accuracy for dirt cheap, CZ is you can go a bit higher in the price range. 10/22 if you want to buy a rifle with crap accuracy, then buy a new barrel to actually give it a chance.

My 10/22 Carbine also had tea saucer accuracy at 75M which I attributed to the brutal trigger pull and a crap $59 Chinese scope. I did my own trigger mod to the OEM parts and replaced the scope with $170 high power rifle scope and it now consistently groups 1" at 75M using standard Federal Eagle 40 grain SP ammo. I'm happy with it now since my old Anschutz bolt action .22 wasn't any better than that.

for a walking gun,you need minute of grouse head up to 50 yards, and any one of my old mossbergs, marlin 795 and BRNO#3 will do that -if I hold it straight

Between:
  • 10/22 with Dlask barrel, Levange compensator, Allen Gun Works trigger group in Boyd's SS Evolution stock
  • Model 60 stainless in Boyd's Thumbhole stock
  • CZ 452 Varmint
  • TC R55 Benchmark
  • Browning T-Bolt

The CZ 453 has a slight edge (with set trigger) over the R55 but is easier to shoot accurate 10 round groups with the R55 (no bolt to manually cycle).

Rank them 453/R55, Model 60, 10/22, T-bolt. The T-bolt is a good shooter but the 10/22 is non-factory trigger group and barrel... The Model 60 just came accurate out of the box.

The Model 60 punches well above its price point but stock plain (hence replaced with thumbhole laminate), and unrefined in terms of parts and finish. If want something with more panache that shoots well and is under $1,000 consider the Kimber SVT.

This for under $300. Of course we're not talking tuned gun "super accurate" but for it's performance right out of the box it's pretty hard to beat at it's price.

Marlin xt accurate out of the box under 200.00 slap 300.00 of glass or less and youve got a budget rifle that performs like star priced much higher
also dont forget for the tacticool mossberg tac 22 built on the 702 plinker reliable proven accurate base and under 300.00
mostly like the look forget what ya spent and have fun

Tons of excellent info here. I will only add, make sure that perfect girl gets what she wants. After that everything will work out very well. These sage words of advice come from 34 years of hard won experience.

I've had a Savage Mako (a Mark II BTV: heavy barrel, thumb hole stock) for a while. Took me a while to find the right ammunition for it. Just got a CZ 455. I took the glass off the CZ as the open sights are a lot of fun. Huge weight difference. If you think that you might be carrying it around for a while, or getting off the bench, the weight can be a factor. If you think that you might try silhouette shooting, you can't have a heavy gun. They have beginners start with a CZ lux.
