Looking for Wolf Hunting tips

Last wolf I shot was thru the lungs/chest @ 220 yards using an older 26" barreled Ruger M77 tang safety 22-250 loaded with 60gr Sierra Varminter HP's @ 3550fps.

Wolf dropped instantly.

I spotted and stalked it while it was circling a moose out on the frozen Fraser River near McBride.

I have tried calling with both hand and electric calls many times but have never had one respond to the call yet has always be spot and stalk/shoot.

You titled the post, "Looking for wolf hunting tips."
Then you asked for wolf SHOOTING tips.
Hunting, seeing, getting a shot is the problem.
Any big game rifle you have will do fine, and many will tell you any high powered bottle neck 22, also.
I prefer a heavier calibre, because you are not likely to get too many chances for clear shots, where you can carefully pick your shot.
My theory, see wolf, shoot wolf. 270, 30-06, 308, etc, will likely anchor them with any body hit, but I have had to track down wolves hit with a 270 as well as one hit with 30-06. They are tough.
Edited; I meant to add that I am referring to wild wolves in the bush, that have not become used to humans, or are feeding on some type of garbage.
Garbage eating wolves are completely different than wild wolves in the wild and they may let you get close to them to pick a shot.
