Looking for your thoughts on a Win. 300WSM A-bolt browning

Hello everyone, I am looking to start hunting this season.
I have a friend selling a Win. 300WSM A-bolt browning rifle. It comes with rings but no scope.
Any thoughts? probably a box or 2 or rounds through it. hes looking for 600 dollars.
Any help would be appreciated.
 
As above have stated, 600$ is a fair deal on an A-Bolt 2. Especially if it's walnut stocked or stainless.
If it's an AB3, which some people still refer to as an A-Bolt even though it isn't, it is worth $350-400.

The A-bolt is usually a very accurate rifle. It will make a good starter gun assuming you can tolerate a bit of recoil.

It was an upgrade as the original A-Bolt had a nasty tendency in some individual rifles to mis-feed when stripping a cartridge from the magazine.

If the OP's rifle is a 300 WSM it is an A-Bolt 2. The one I own in 300 WSM is very accurate. $600.00 is a fair deal if it is a Plain-Jane "Hunter" model. A FLD, Medallion, or Stainless model may be worth a little more.
 
I traded for an ab3 in 300, took a hot in the trade bit wanted something I didnt have to reload for. I was extremely happy with the trade after I took it out shooting. Accuaracy was above what expected with cheap ammo and recoil was unbelievably low. Never owned a browning before bit I am impressed with thos one

Stainless Stalker or Blued Wood or plastic stock ?
$600 between friends....is well top dollar.

It’s a good rifle, I’d take one and trust it to perform and not miss a beat. If it’s stainless that would be a bonus in my book.

If you're willing to hand load, nice rifle. If you buy your bullets off the shelf, run , don't walk away. :(

My brother-in-law has that exact rifle. He bought it new and it's his only rifle so it sees quite a bit of use.
He can't say enough good things about it. If it's chambered in the cartridge you want, I'd say go for it!
