Looking into a 1911

Para sucks?? Well, I have 2500 rds through my G.I Expert with no issues, the finish is a little worn, but not a big deal.I would buy Para again.

My buddys got sent in 3 times and before the 4th time he asked for his money back. He spent a few hundred more on a Spartan. The para is worse than a norc for double the money. You happened to get a good one. Quality para's seem to be the exception not the rule.

So you're saying Norks are bad??? C'mon man, where's that coming from?

Even my two Gold Cups never shot as good as any of my Norks. All my Norks, but the Kotanko tuned piece, are stock.

One of my Series 80 Governments couldn't even shoot hardball reliably. My only great Colts were the two Combat Elites that were fully loaded with BarStos, McCormick fire control, Bomars etc, built by one of the better gunsmiths of the era.

I have a nork. I just didn't word that properly. The Nork is an amazing gun and is BETTER than a para at half the price. It just doesnt look as nice. That being said i love my nork commander so much I think it needs a 5" brother for the safe.

I like GI looking guns, so maybe my taste is different than some people's, but I like

Colt Government series 70
Or
springfield armory mil-spec

Both are forged steel, look killer and your kids will be happy as hell to inherit them.

If you want a good gun for cheap, get the Norinco, thought the steel is apparently great, the fit, finish and machining marks might not be, but that's all cosmetic.

The look of the Colt just makes me smile

Get back to us when you have 10,000 rounds through it. If it still runs, consider yourself lucky.

I would love to give you a comparison on a few 1911, but I only own the Colt Delta Elite 10mm. I love the way it looks, feels and shoots. I have 17 Pistols and Revolvers, and this 10mm is my most accurate gun. I was looking to buy another Colt, but I think I'm going to give the Les Baer a try. Thanks for asking the question, I find this tread informative for the 1911 seeker. I would like to have heard some feedback on the Ruger though...I heard the have a really good fit and finish, and would be a just a step below the customs. Can anyone confirm?

Here is my Delta Elite (with a few options):

No experience with the S&W or Para, but if you are open to suggestions there are a few other good pistols in that price range. A Springfield (there are a couple models around 1000 bucks +/-, Colt, or Kimber. You probably won't find too much fault with any of them, at that price range I think its more about personal preference on the details like finish, features, etc. If you like the S&W you probably won't be disappointed, they seem to get good reviews overall.
