Looking into a Type 81...

lol. You got it backwards. its ak stock looking like t81. it says norinco so it was exported after t81 was mass produced.

as far as i know, nothing from ak was taken so the folder was designed for a t81. originally 40,000 t81 was produced with wood stock and subsequently they went with folders, apparently it was cheaper.

i have said this before, this folder is the sweetest folder i have ever owned (it use to be galil), no wonder the folders was put on ak.

I have a Type 81 fixed stock but I am too old for open sights so it only went to the range once.
Nice gun, feels good and easy to shoot an improvement over the SKS feels similar to an AK in some ways.
I haven't decided to put it up for sale or trade it, not going to shoot it much unless I can get a scope on it.
I bought it with 2 extra mags, and I like it but I am going back to a bolt gun that I can scope.
I would like to get a 5R in 223 to go with my 308 as thats the only two cals I shoot.
I know I am going in the wrong direction but I haven't had a lever 38/357 to go with my revolvers in years.
I am just thinking out loud, seems like doing time with this dam pandemic.
