I have a ruger scout in .308 and love the handy compactness of the rifle and the detachable mags. It also looks mean with the full XS rail and grey laminate. However, I have decided that I am not very confident in the bullet drop and trajectory of .308 and want something that shoots a bit flatter for hunting. I find myself constantly second guessing myself out in the field.
Are there any similar style rifles, in a similar price range, in something like .270? (Or something with a bit flatter trajectory than .308). I note that although a scout rifle, I actually mount a traditional scope on my current set-up and am likely to continue to do so. Iron sights would be a plus (I use detach rings and sometimes plink with irons).
