Looking to add a 1911 to the safe.

Looking to get a 1911. Was going to get a sig Tac ops or scorpion. But then i seen a Nighthawk GRP on here a week are so ago. Now i just can make up my mind i know there is about 2000$ differences. I can reload a lot of ammo at that price. This is what i have in mind.
1 - Sig 1911 Tac-ops or scorpion
2 - Nighthawk GRP recon
3 - Wilson combat x-tac (Have to get built)
4 - Wilson CQB
I know the sig is not really in the same class as the rest, But just want to know what people have to say about them or if you have handle more than one. My plan is to use it for 3 gun and plinking.
I have a M&P40 and 22/45 and norinco 1911 Now maybe its time to put a semi custom 1911 next to some of my custom long range sticks

My Tacops is not quite broken in yet. Seems to be a little intolerant of LRN reloads if the measurements aren't exact. No issues with factory 230g FMJs.

It's a great pistol for the price. Very accurate and fantastic to hold onto. The external extractor works great, too.

Can't really go wrong with any of the above, hawks, wilsons, browns, are top tier and you'd probably keep it for life, I've had lots and still have a few sig 1911's and they handle and shoot great but Would trade or sell them in a heart beat to acquire more WW 1911's and 1911a1's
Cheers

not sure how custom you want it, but STI trojan ($1200) with already some finer parts and a few other single stack models they have.. and these are good guns...
or Kimber or an Ed Brown are also great options to build with.

Also, contact your gunsmith and have them quote on building one with all the upgraded parts and finishes... I can recommend one, if you don't know some to do that.

What do I win?

Looks like im going to go all in with the wilson Xtac. Hopping that ill be able to shoot at most of the Competition in my neck of the woods. Thinking at a later date ill keeping my eye on a sti 2011.

I was going to add that you might want to check out Dlask Arms. I have a .40 S&W of theirs and it's just pure awesome and at half the price of a Wilson/Hawk/Brown/Baer. Canadian made too!

If I had that kind of money to spend I would get a Colt 100 year Centennial 1911, they are taking orders until December and they are less than $2000.
They aren't as fancy as the customs but they are a Colt re-issue and probably just as reliable as the originals.
I was seriously looking into it but found a more or less original 1911 which I am happy with.

that Smith and Wesson pictured above looks awesome. I am partial to the STI 1911's. I was thinking of something with a rail (like a duty one), but perhaps a trojan might fit the bill.

Yes, the S&W 1911 above is around $1200 retail. Very reasonably priced for the feature set. Compare this high value 1911 to anything in the market in the $2k range. This one stands out. Amazing value.

Since you are looking in this range, my current 1911 fantasy build is:

Ed Brown
Executive Elite
Stainless frame and slide with black gen3
10-8 rear site
Gold bead front
Maxi well
Barrel cut flush
Slide stop recessed
Vz carbon fibre grips

As soon as I win the lottery ( or can sneak it by my wife:D)

I have a SIG 1911 Carry and love it. I don't think another $2000 can get you any more than 10% better quality. Sig is pretty sweet :)
