Looking to Borrow a Sight Pusher Tool - Haaallppp

Looking to throw some new sights on a pistol, but don't want to buy into a new rig, or pay for the bench time (only doing the sights this time). That said, I wanted to check around and see if there was anyone willing to lend me their jig. I'm downtown Toronto, but could certainly throw in for snail mail if need be.

I know I could use a punch, but find it's platform dependent...the level of success that is ;)

I have no idea if it will work on an M&P, or not. If you want to bring the slide to my place and try it out, you're more than welcome to. I'm not really interested in shipping it out.
 
ive recently picked up one of the Wheeler Sight Tools and it works like a charm.
i cant send it as it would cost a lot to send it to the other side of the country because its a heavy bugger but if you get totally stuck and want you can send me your slide and sights and id gladly do it for you.
any excuse to use my new tool!

Say that is nice! Can't recall the make of the rig that I have but the design of yours would address a few annoying features. Is the black "H" shaped piece replaceable with other sizes? Does your tool rack when you're pushing the sights?

the 'H' thing can be flipped over, so either you have a straight edge to push with or a angled - depending on what your sites that you are pushing look like.

as to your 2nd question.... what do you mean?

By rack I mean racking which is a torsional or twisting force. Your tool has the threaded shaft that applies the pressure to push the sight and it is off set from the pusher. This can create twisting forces in the tool that cause binding. My sight pusher is in line, the threaded "driver" pushes out the sight on the same axis. Does this make sense?

understand now.
i was testing a couple 1911's last night, hadnt tried one of them yet.
ran into a Norc that is HELLA tight and for the pusher to the point where im pretty sure if i kept cranking it it was going to either strip the bolt or bend the crank piece.

in the instructions they state that if you run into this you can assist the pusher by putting a punch on the outside of the H part and smacking it with a hammer, im guessing to jar it loose.

i think id rather hit it with a brass punch straight on to break it free.

keep in mind that was just 1 of my 1911's that i had a issue with, the rest i was able to move the sights around with little to no problem.
 
Thanks for taking the time to respond to my question Wayupnorth! I like the design and that was the only weakness I could imagine it having. My pusher wins on the application of force being in line with the threaded rod but loses at the point of contact with the sight, which is where your's is really nice! Can I ask where you purchased your sight pusher?
