I picked up a Israeli K98 from a local gun store here and with open sights the rifle shoots really well to the point that I figure a scope would put it over the top. Now none of the numbers match and being an Israeli 7.62 model I figured I won't be wrecking anything. I'm not looking to create a 100% WWII sniper rifle clone. I'd like a scope that can elevation and windage adjustments.

Now the scope rings I would like to get are like these:

I like the split rings due to ease of changing the scope.

As for the scope I'd like to find something "old looking" but like I said, has the elevation and windage adjustments.

On my grandfather's Parker Hale Safari in .308 Norma Magnum (Which is interesting since the rifle is built using a Mauser action!) he has a old Ruko model-AA x6 mono tube. It has that sort of look to it.

The scope fits my needs, it looks "old", it's a fixed 6 power, and was decent enough to never need sighting in and went to the bottom of a lake in the early morning, fished out, and shot a moose that afternoon :D

Lots of options out there.

1. The easiest that conversion that does not require a Tapping/Drilling is a ZF41 conversion. Numrich and Ebay sell mounts/repro scops and with the repro rear sight mount you can use a real mount/scope. These were considered snipers but later down-classed into sharp shooting rifles.

2. The low/high turret mounts that you are looking at require Tapping/Drilling and with a hardened receiver may not be the easiest and may require a machinist/gun smith.

3. LSR/SSR mounts also require Tapping/Drilling and are a very commonly available mounting system. Many of these repro mounts include an authentic looking 4x power scope.

Cheers

That is no worries since I was going to get this all done at the local gunsmith anyways to support him.

the high and low turret types may require machining to fit properly on your action as well. the short or long side rail type are usually a easier way to go.
you might even think about Burris rings and mounts depending on how close to original you want it to look. Ebay is the place for old German scopes.
make sure of your ring diameter and scope diameter before you buy . 26mm or 1 inch.

I dont need it looking 100% correct. I would prefer a 6 power scope to a 4 power. And the scopes on ebay are a little pricey for reproductions of 4 power scopes. I'd like something that at a quick glance at a distance looks like it could be "period correct" but then looking for more than a couple seconds you can tell it's not. :D

Thus my idea of an old 50s or 60s beat up 6 power scope like the one on my grandfather's old rifle. The reproductions are nice but from what I read, they don't have windage adjustment to them like the originals.

Just looked at the LSR mounts and they do look nice but all the ones I found run $200. But a "beat up looking" Weaver K6 and an LSR mount would look decent as well.
