Looking to buy a Bullpup, what's the best way to go?

First I have to make clear I NO experience with BullPups, I have never handled or fired one but as some plans have fallen through I've decided to use the money ear marked for those plans to treat myself to a new toy.

I've been looking at the XCR-M and Kel Tec but was hoping to learn from others experience. What Bullpup would be the best way to go for someone with no previous background handling one of these? Are there other Makes/Models I should be considering?

Although I am licensed for Restricted Fire Arms I would prefer something Non-Restricted just to avoid the whole ATT issue and it would be nice to have something I could actually take hunting.

I'm having a hard time justifying the .223 calibre as it just doesn't have the stopping power I'd like, so I would be open to any suggestions anyone might have chambered in .308/7.62 NATO.

Any and all input welcome and Appreciated. Thanks :)

the keltec RFB is the only .308 bullpup i know of and can be used for hunting most game. i have a tavor and think it is GREAT but .223 not much of a hunting round here

Love my RFB. Great hunting rifle. Extremely short and easy to pack through the bush. Plenty accurate enough to take deer out to a couple hundred yards.
Don't buy an RFB or XCR-M if you expect a sniper rifle though. Both rifles are about 1.5-4 inches at 100 yards depending on ammo. If you want sniper rifle accuracy buy a bolt action. These are designed as battle rifles not DMR.

Yup, the RFB is your only choice in town. All other bullpups are in .223

Too bad we can't import those Juggernaut bullpup kits from the US for the M14 or you could build a M14 bullpup as an option.

Thanks for the input guys :)

Sounds like a Kel Tec RFB is the way to go. It'll be a month or two before I place the order but who knows maybe my trigger finger will get itchy and then I just may have to order it sooner :)

you might want to keep an eye on EE,the list from vendors used to be over a year long when I got mine, not sure what it's like now though.

I had the RFB at the range the other day setting it up for hunting, Factory 180gr Nosler partitions after the scope was dialed in and gas system set. 100yds

(excuse the crappy cell phone pic)

The lists are a lot shorter now. Call and get on the list at your favourite KelTec retailer. I got mine at Epps and there was no list. Just lucked out and checked their site on the right day.
Don't bother with the EE, most of the RFB's on there are asking full retail price and you never know how many rounds are through it even though they claim 50 or less.

The XCR-M actually isn't a bullpup design, but the Kel-Tec is. If you're looking for a non-restricted black-rifle in .308, those are probably the top 2 choices right now. Between the two, I'd be leaning towards the XCR-M.
What no lock tight with that order of XCR :p
Bullpups are a flavor of the day.
I say what for that other socialist country's firearm to hit our shore...

Just got my RFB. Its being shipped right now and can't wait till its here. I've been using my mini 30 (7.62 x 39) as my deer gun and all around blasting for the past few years. Its got a host of goodies on her, but I've and been wanting something with a bit more punch. I have plenty of bolt guns in the safe and they never move. The initial bank book hit is something I've always dreaded but the RFB is what I have been wanting for so long. Can't beat the 308 for an all around round! The 26.5" in overal lenght, man its like hunting with a hand gun, and with enough umph to drop a moose!
