Looking to buy a good rifle

I'm looking for a rifle for the 12 yr old, for deer and eventually moose, bear, elk etc... He wants a bolt action... he likes synthetic stocks and stainless barrel. Scope and sling would be great too. If you have something in good shape for sale lets hear about it .

Get him a 260 remington. A remington M7 stainless synthetic will do. If funds are tight then get him a stevens 200 in 7-08.

Like slimbo said; Rem 7 or 700 260 or 7mm/08 also good choice, never look back !!

X2 on the model 7, .260 or 7-08 are both good calibers for everything you mentioned, and neither one my make the lad recoil shy.

have a look at the VANGUARD COMPACT.they come with 2 stocks,Scaled-down hardwood stock with non-reflective matte black finish and a full-size injection-moulded composite stock to accomodate a growing shooter.as for a cal.i would really look at that 7mm-08.the # say it will do anything the 308 will do out to 400yards easy.

We looked at the Vangard compact.... the balance of the gun was not there for him...

My wife is shooting the model 7 in the setup you described, cahmbered in 260 rem, makes for a good rifle that the kid wont outgrow. 7-08, 270, or 280 are also good choices caliber wise, rifle wise will be up to you and the boy, find one that fits good and you should be in good sshape.
