Looking to buy an air gun!!!

The 1322 crosman is back in production. It is a 22 caliber pump up pistol that will easily dispatch rats and pidgeons. they are available for about 70 bucks plus tax. add the 13 dollar shoulder stock and you have something awesome. Add a 40 dollar flat top piston kit and you will hit max velocity in 6 pumps. I wouldn't look anywhere else. so for $123 plus tax you have a perfect gun for your needs.

Sounds like some good fun.

If you install the flat top piston kit, is it still considered sub-500 fps?

Planning on getting a chronograph to test reloads and such, but with a pumper I'm unsure of how that all plays out. How many pumps do you test it at? etc...

Did some searching here and on airgunforum.ca, but couldn't find much.
Sorry if it's a noob question, or already posted and I just missed it.

As far as I know, the flat top piston does not affect velocity. It simply increases the amount of air moved into the valve per pump. So if you normally pump 8 times, after installing the FTP, you might only need 5 or 6.

I like the crosman pumpers and have a 2289, (or Backpacker as it's called), with a steel breach, filled bleed valve and a few other modifications. I like the 2289 as if can be used as a carbine with the attached stock and it has a longer barrel than the 1322.

With the standard 14" barrel and 10 pumps it does about 480fps with 14.3 grain pellets. Nice knockdown power, but still not requiring a PAL.

Thanks for the reply.

Just discovered that handgun hunting is a no-no in BC (as per the '10-'12 Hunting synopsis). Bleh.

Looks like I'll be looking for something designed for two-hand operation with a 12"+ barrel.

Still might get the 1322 for some fun, anyways.

Thanks again.

I'd get a precharged pneumatic and a scuba tank to fill it. I'm getting 970 fps with heavy lead pellets in 22 cal out of mine. Very accurate, no recoil or scope damaging jarring. 10 shot repeater. You could do the whole setup new for under a grand, or much less if you can find a good used scuba tank.

So a recent work experience made me realise that the .177 works awsome on pigeons. That being said what are everyones thoughts on the crosman nitro venom. 1200fps. Are they very loud? Accuracy? what about the scope? Good quality? Any first hand info would be great.

Ok lets talk gamo. How about the gamo varmint hunter. Any experience with it? the flashlight it comes with is neat because I find myself in dark wearhouse type spots and a second hand is not always free to hold a light. Weapon mounting is a neat idea.

So I ended up getting something I wasn't really looking for. I got a stoger x10. 1200 fps but with the rws pellets Im shooting its more around 900fps. Actually a really nice rifle. Solid feeling, trigger is functional not great but not hard to get used to. I have not put it to paper for grouping yet But I have seen A few other shooters targets and they look promising. Any personal stories with one of these. And thanks for all your help along the way.

Check out Weirauch 100s It is the best of the best. It will set you back about $1700 with a good pump. Very accurate , match grade trigger, zero recoil, 60 shots per fill, 14 round mag,. Once you
get away from spingers you will never look back. There are higher end ones out there but there olympic grade stuff. I got one and since 5 of my friends have parked there spingers an have gone
pre-charged.

How are the pcp's when it comes to storage with the air chamber full? The gun I have now sees a rough life bouncing around in my truck where it stays. Any forseeable problems with this? The reason I love the springer is because its totally empty after each shot. Better for storing. I must say after the several months I have owned this airgun and the amount of kills I have stacked up with it with irons only I have never been more happy with a $170 purchase :). Thanks for everybodys imput here. I am not done buying airguns, I have become somewhat excited by airguns again :)

My hatsan at 44 pcp sits in a case, so I can't comment on the back of a truck scenario, but it does hold pressure indefinitely.

Good to know. I am curious what it would be like to have no recoil upon trigger pull. That and a rotary mag. It would sure be more fun dropping 30 birds in a salt shed lol.

I just bought a RETAY ARMS .22 cal 950fps . great gun for 20 minutes ( about 30 shots ), then it broke and the company wont reply . Buy quality and Reputable , I learned the hard way . Best of luck and good shooting .

Glad you made a choice, I hope it serves you well. I have only been shooting an air rifle for about 13 months now since getting back into it after a 25 year break and with all the info on the net a person can go a long time before making a choice but I've heard that "anticipation is half the joy". In the past year I've bought 3 rifles, 2 springers and the latest a PCP and a hand pump. I feel satisfied that I am fully equipped and now I just enjoy them. For a while I was caught up in the hype of getting what you pay for but after following the sport on many different forums I think being satisfied with what you've paid the least for is better. Maybe we only hear when someone is having problems but theres enough bragging as well, if I payed 6 or 8 hundred bucks and it broke the first month I would be really upset and I've read plenty of post from people in that position. Happy Shooting
