Hey there just purchased a new rifle, 270 win looking to target shoot anyone know where I can buy cheap Ammo? Everywhere I’m looking is 23-50$ a box of 20 and even then they are lead nose rounds ??
I don’t need anything special just have decent to plink and get decent groups with. In gta area

Cabelas has 15% off ammo tomorrow, but 270 is a caliber you rarely find deals on. You say you want to plink, get a .223, then you can get cheap ammo

I’m going to start reloading to have the Ammo I would like and I can afford 23$ a box the problem is they are soft tip so they won’t fly as well as fmj.

Could you explain what you mean by that statement? In my experience soft tip hunting bullets are quite accurate. Perhaps not as accurate as some Hollow Point Match, but not many of those in .270. As for FMJ, most are meant just for plinking (although not really available in .270 Winchester), and as far as I know there are no match shooters shooting FMJ.

A bullet is constructed by dropping a lead slog into a brass tube that looks like a miniature test tube. It is then hit in a die, to shape.

It has to be solid at one end and open at the other.

If it is open at the base, the solid end is called a full metal jacket.

If it is open at the front, it is a soft point, hollow point or a tipped bullet (point filled with plastic).

The open base bullets (Full Metal Jackets) are the least accurate style of bullet.

It may defy logic, but the shape of the bottom end of the bullet (the base) is far more important than the tip.

If you can buy soft point ammo for $23, that is "cheap" ammo, and more accurate than any FMJ you might find.

While fmj's may have a better looking profile, they do not necessarily fly better or more accurately than some of the other bullets on the market. And there is no guarantee that your rifle will like them better than a lead-tipped bullet. Also, if you intend to hunt with it, check your hunting regs, as most places do not allow fmj's for hunting!
The 270 can be very accurate, but usually is not associated with target shooting, so finding match ammo may be harder, and not not necessarily cheaper.
I have shot many types of factory ammo and handloads with lead and plastic tipped bullets in various rifles chambered in the 270 Win, 270 WSM and 270 Wby over the years, and found many to be capable of producing MOA and better groups at 100 yards. And this includes the basic Winchester Power Point and Federal blue box ammo. These will also be about the cheapest factory ammo you can find, and as already stated, $23/box is about as cheap as you are going to find today. You may find better deals on EE or at a gunshow.
Personally, I found the Nosler AccuBond (plastic tipped) to be about the most consistently accurate bullet, and then the Sierra GameKing (lead tipped). They have also accounted for many quick, clean harvests of big game over the years.

Probably best off to buy a box of each type and weight you are interested in, and try them in your rifle to determine which will shoot best in it, then go out and buy a bunch of that ammo.
It will also give you an idea as to which bullets to start with when you start handloading.

Cabelas had 15% off ammo a while back. I picked up some 130 corelokt factory loads for 28-29$ a box iirc. That's no steal of a deal but the cheapest I'm seeing quality factory ammo lately. It's fairly accurate ammo as well.
