Looking to replace the barrel on a new purchase that had been somewhat neglected. Actually, aside from the pitting inside the bore, the crown has been somewhat beaten as well.

Looking to know who is selling new barrels these days, and could install. Tried my hands at a Kart on a friend's 1911 with much success, so if that's an option, I'd simply buy another.

If you had any product/dealer preferences, I'd love to hear them. Thank you all so much. Have a good night.

It's best to have a hard fitted barrel (since you're buying a barrel anyway) so I'd talk to a good 'smith. Most of them can get you pretty much any brand, as long as you're patient (BarSto barrels are back ordered for many months, Kart may not be exportable if not registered with the USDOS for export). The quickest would be Storm Lake, who make both direct fit and hard fit barrels and bushings - they have a deal with Questar regarding importation. The deal lets you order direct from Storm Lakes website and for a reasonable fee Questar does the paperwork in the background. Storm Lake ships you the barrel direct. Folks I've talked to who have used Storm Lakes barrels were very happy.

Also heard good things about Storm Lake but have never tried them. From my first hand experience with BarSto, despite the mentioned wait time, their barrels are certainly worth it. It will need fitting by a gunsmith (even the semi-drop in model) but again, you will love the improved grouping. One of my shooting buddies has a Colt Government (Enhanced) and just installed an Ed Brown - boy, this shoots like a devil on fire. Any of the above mentioned barrels should make your new gun project a towering success. Good luck and post further developements!!!
