I never used a trail cam before, and I am very interested to see how they work. The only problem is that there is so many to chose from. I'm looking for one that is capable of taking clear images and videos during night and day. What would be my best option?

Definitely not high end, but I've got a couple Wildgame cameras, bought from CanTire.
I paid $99 sale price, including batteries and card, for the first. $89 for the second, no card/no batteries.
They take good pics and video, good battery life, and excellent night picture.
I left the first for 4 months, still 50% battery, 700+ pics of the fvcking wind blowing a tree branch. User error!

I bought them to try out, and they work well.

I had some older Bushnell's and they ate batteries like crazy so I found a low priced Moultrie and set it up. It worked perfectly and the battery life was outstanding. I left it in the bush in Dec 2013 and the snow was too deep in Jan to retrieve it. I eventually found it last Nov and after 11 months the screen said "SD card full, battery low". I was so happy with the Moultrie, I went out and purchased 2 more.
