Looking to get a bolt action rimfire for training for hunting

If you can find a CZ 452 or a 453. The 455 can be a problem child. Triggers can be easily tinkered with. The only problem is the bolt lift which can hit the eye piece if the rings aren’t high enough

Seem to hear this a lot... My 455 Canadian was a better shooter then my 452 and 452 varmint. Mind you I did not to extensive ammo testing.

Ruger american is heavy as all get out. Muzzle heavy. My personal opinion.

CZ you can never get the rings low enough without adding a cheek pad or riser. My personal op.

CZ, Savage, Ruger, Marlin ect... Its all just a luck of the draw for accuracy.

Still have to ammo test if you are looking for optimal accuracy.

Go with what you like the feel and looks of best. Then buy good ammo, lots of diffrent types. You will get a good shooter with one brand of ammo eventually.

If I was to ever get into the low budget plinker/trainer game. I would likely go to Trade Ex and get a S&L or something.

I would just get a MK II, savage or lakefield. Save money for your hunting rifle and scope.

I haven't owned a CZ, but from everything I've heard they are a nice rifle, they are an option as well but not as cheap.

Well said.. I would go with the Savage, I would cry if I dropped my CZ452 and damaged the wood

They are already taking pre-orders for the Tikka rimfire. I think it was 649 cdn. One of the sponsors of this site, delivery this summer.

It sounds like a really nice rifle, and I'd love to have one, but do I really need another 22 rifle......

I've got a Marlin xt22, the heavy barrel version. It's great, very accurate little rifle.

That said if you are on a budget I would go for a savage or Marlin, if you want to spend more then a cz would be my choice. I bought the xt, rings and scope and a couple extra mags for the same price as a cz without rings and a scope. It shoots 1/2-3/4" groups with bulk ammo at 50 yards, with good ammo it shoots better but I have to do my part.
