Thanks for all the advice guys, greatly appreciated.

I know I'll enjoy that platform as I've already fired it extensively on the military side. I think I'll just go with the Norc for now as a starter gun and go from there.

If your on a budget to buy an AR just wait until you are not on a budget, its better to buy quality. My first AR was a norc, it was crap. after sinking more money into it for it to shoot. ( The BCG was cheap and rifle wouldn't shoot) I ended up paying as much as a mid level AR would cost. Then ended up selling it and going high end. Be patient my friend, save a little more money, get the good stuff.

Nothing wrong with the norinco rifles they work and work well. Use the money you saved to buy as much ammo as you can. If you decide later you want a different ar or something else, then you will have no problem selling the norc.

IF not Norinco, I would tell you Windham Weaponry.

Especially since SFRC/AmmoSource has a 6% sale right now.

Optics ready platform.

The 6% savings will help you save on the shipping and taxes, and there are ZERO **** reviews on these platforms.

A bit of savings, but a better upgrade from Norinco for not much more.

Factor in you will still need to buy mags, maybe an optic, and ammo no matter what you get.

I would save up a little more and buy used off the EE.
Just make sure you research how much whatever you're looking at costs new before you buy. Some guys want new prices for their used stuff. May as well buy new if your only saving $30.
I've bought 2 uppers a lower and 2 complete AR's from the EE in the last couple years and have had great luck so far with all of them. Well I'm still waiting for the latest upper to arrive in the mail but I'm sure it will be perfect since it's new in the box.
I just sold an Armalite 10.5" complete rifle for $800 on the EE and I've seen plenty of other decent brand AR's go for under $1000.

You can find new Core, Armalite, NEA, etc... for just over $1000 so I would go that way and avoid the Norc. I own Norc's (not AR's) and like them but for a rifle like the AR I think a little higher quality build than a Chinese copy is needed.
The biggest problem I see with the Norc's is that it's total hit or miss if you get one that works or one that makes you pull out your hair and turn your gun into a club. Some get a good one and others not so much.

Good luck no matter which way you go.
