Only semi I ever had chooch properly out of the box for a couple thousand rounds has been my SKS. Every other semi-auto I have required some sort of intervention to achieve reliability.
 
The Sterling AR18 series and 180 series both work like clockwork
They use Sterling made magazines and armalite made ones work as well
All the Sterling guns were brought into Canada
