Looking to learn more about Blackpowder.

I am new to blackpowder and would like to know more about it. Any web sites or books that i could read that will help me educate myself about Blackpowder firearms. This would be greatly appreciated as I have some big shoes to fill to be able to talk to my father in law about blackpowder.

Lyman's blackpowder manual would give you some of the basics plus lots of loading data. Beyond that would suggest joining the local fish and game club and hanging out with the BP crowd presuming they exist
There is also a book by Sam Fadala although not all necessarily agree with him. He does cover the basics as I recall.
