Looking to pick up a CZ457 in 2023. Has the Canadian edition been discontinued?

Yes sir, it does. I bought mine at G4C last year. One of the most satisfying purchases I have ever made, given the combination of balance, performance and quality in that rifle. I believe it came with a 5 round mag, but I have since bought some OEM polymer 10 rounders (think FOC had some in various shipments).

I was surprised to read that it came with a 5 rounder, that's then smallest rimfire mag that I've seen. It will work good for hunting as it doesn't protrude out very far and will balance well. I see there is a variety of metal and polymer 10 rounders which I'll have to pick up for plinking. Have you seen anything with higher capacity than 10?

Yup, there's a 25 round banana mag (CZ OEM), but I can tell you first hand that it just looks ridiculous on this rifle (in my humble opinion), akin to putting bumper stickers on a Porsche.

Here's a couple close solutions to your $500-range, looking at one of these for my CZ-V-MTR. - http s://tillsonburggunshop.com/Vortex-Diamondback-Tactical-6-24x50mm-30mm-EBR-2C-MOA-FFP-Riflescope-Canada?sort=p.price&order=ASC

And here's a 25x - don't know if it'll fit your 457 ?

Oh, it certainly does fit the 457...and it is butt ugly. The 5 rounder keeps it rather flush...the 10 rounder is OK, but kind of detracts from the rifle. The 25-rounder...it's an abomination to the aesthetics of an otherwise beautiful rifle. Sorry, I can't hide my true feelings here...lol... and it's around $40 I will never get back...

I own the Diamondback 6-24x which currently sits on my .308. I could try it out on the 457 but I would need new rings as my current set mounts to a Picatinny rail. I'll look into the Athlon, I'm not familiar with that brand.

Weeelll, if you're going to shoot 200+ you might want a xx* MOA rail, too.
I have a 455 with a 0* rail and I can just barely run the bolt. The 457 only has 60* throw so you'ld be OK there. This is with a 6-24x50 Covenant.

I just got a 457 V-MTR and a 30-MOA 419 rail which has a built in bubble-level. Compared to my 455 with a CZ-0* rail the 419 looks really High but the MTR has a high comb - we'll see soon as I just ordered an Athlon Argos BTR 8-34X56 from Wolverine, hasn't arrived yet. Will update next week.
FWIW, I believe the rail is more strong a mount, depends on how you treat your gun.

I'm a pretty big newbie, but I do like my setup. I have a CZ 457 .17HMR with a Crimson Trace HARDLINE 2-7X32 BDC-BLACKOUT (Details https://www.crimsontrace.com/produc...ne/hardline-2-7x32-bdc-blackout/01-01260.html) and I love it. I got it really dialled in this past year and got very close shot groups at 25, 50 and 100 yards. I don't have quite enough magnification beyond that, but I tried it at 150 and 200 and it was OK I just couldn't see well enough to hit smaller targets.

I'd be interested in upgrading the scope to more magnification eventually, since the rifle is very accurate and repeatably so. Being such a n00b to shooting, I am not sure how yet, so this thread is helpful!

And the CZ 457 is highly recommended. I like it so much better than all the other .17HMR and .22LR I have shot. It's comfortable and high quality and the accuracy is really great. Canadian Tire in Cranbrook sells them, which is great because I got almost $100 of Canadian Tire money on the purchase, haha! Got me some ammo for free! :)

I'm interested to see how this scope is for you as I'd like better magnification for my .17HMR, as I would like to get longer distances in my target shooting.
