Looking to start reloading shotgun, little bit of stuff, couple questions.

Great information, thank you.
Looks like I will just mess around with buckshot for a while.
I do have a 12, but my wife's 28 may work out to be more economical. Unfortunatly my MEC will only do you 2 guage.
Definitely worth reloading a 28ga. Factory rounds are pricey, when you can find them. I took a quick look (and I mean quick, through WSS) and found that only Winchester and Federal offer a 28ga field load. $24-$27 per box. I checked with my brother today, he buys cases of the cheapest 12ga field loads he can get each fall when CT has them on sale. Says he gets between 35 and 40 16ga rounds out of a 25rd box of 12ga. Last year he got them for $60 a case. That's cheap ammo. In your case, I'd venture you return would be well above 50 shells per box. At only the cost of some additional primers.

I know Alberta has a lot more to offer than Ontario but ammo prices is not one of those things. When I was at Lawry's today they had skids of 28g Federal Gold Medal and Rio as well for like $94 a flat. I can't believe you guys pay 3x the price for ammo out there.

Figure out what the shipping is on a flat thru CanPar (they know my dog's name, they're here so much) and I'll get you to ship me 3 flats. EMT right now.

Talk to your LGS not me. I can hit up any of the gun stores around here and get 28 for half the price you are paying. Unless you live in buttfck nowhere you are getting hosed. Keep in mind that all my LGS's have to pay to have the stuff shipped to them just like your LGS has to as well. When you buy a few skids of product shipping costs per unit aren't really that high.

Exactly why I do it, I shoot 1oz in 12ga for target and upland, the loads are tailored to what I'm doing for each shotgun. A typical 1 1/8Oz Promo load has considerably more recoil than my 1Oz target reload, I have a affection for not pounding the hell out of myself on the Skeet field. Finding 1Oz target loads at 1200FPS locally is neither cheap nor readily available.
