Hello all, Im a southern ontario resident looking to try my hand at coyote hunting. I have no mentor and only just got into hunting last year.
Im wondering if any of you could give a tip, trick or any general advice on the subject.

Currently Im armed with a .243win topped by a 4-16x42mm.
Own no calls but duck and deer.

And only have one location out in WMU 73 where I even have permission to hunt as of yet :(

Thanks in advance,
Ty

Beside the information you'll receive via the "search" feature Google and YouTube will also provide you with a vast amount of info.

Good Luck

Keep it simple .... Get a couple of mouth calls ... A rabbit decoy for sure.... The one that quivers/ shakes around...... Get either snow camo or a gillie suit ...... Set up very similar to turkey hunting ...... Be very very very very still cause there eye sight is incredible too bad you didn't live closer to me cause I'd take you too maitouland island with me. You don't need all that bull sh,,t .... There are so many ........ Make sure you can shoot accurate out to 300...400 meters cause sometimes they don't come close ... All depending on where you hunt ........ If you have any questions private message me and I'll try to help you out a little better..... Till then have fun

Try predator masters forum.....great info for new coyote callers. You'll find how you set up is the key to calling coyotes. Hand calls are cheapest for a new guy. But E-callers work nice as they keep the sound away from you. Let's the coyotes focus attention on the caller not you the shooter. You'll find you need more than one spot for decent success on coyotes in Ontario. Perrmission is easier to get for coyotes than deer. Good luck!

What do you have against coyotes? They're just tryin' to make a living--like anyone else.

As do deer cows and chickens. You don't rase stock of any type do you. They are killers and too many in many areas. Now to OP, you have a great cal. a decoy as stated helps keep the coyote focused on something other than you. Mouth call work well but as said, pointers from utube help. Have a good time and get at me! AJ.

I appreciate all the little tips and tricks in this thread as well as a few PMs I have received.

I will try getting some kind of remote call right off the bat, seems worth the investment due to the fact they're going to look in the direction of, look at and try and circle around the source of the sound (Id assume?)
May even try an outdoor bluetooth speaker and a calling app for the phone..? Keep cost down and also work for other game animals in the future..

I shall try and ask some more farmers for permission..it does only seem logical they wont want predators lurking around if they have livestock

Ive had lots come to crow fighting sounds inadvertently while i was shooting crows....

I've seen this too (not while shooting crows, but while watching them from my blind). Crows were making a racket, fighting, etc. Coyote came in after about 10 minutes.

Coyotes are smart enough to know that when crows are making a commotion there's a good chance there is food around, I guess.

Most any coyote type call will do, rabbit distress, crow, woodpecker distress, howls, kittens, etc.

The hard part is locating them(not where someone told you they were located), getting into position relative to the wind undetected and calling them into your "shooting range" with his eyes, ears and nose on your location.

I'm near Port Perry, the mange locally has been unkind along with the last two bad winters.
