I have a second job delivering cars for a dealer and went up to bills pond today... on the way up I saw the CO trucks at cache creek and on the way back they had a road block set up...

Driving by I saw a moose head sticking out of the truck around lunch time... not saying 100% it was a poacher... but if it was "haha sucker" lol

Nothing like speculation.

Had the CO's come to my house right into the garage while skinning an animal.I can only speculate who called. ;)

"oh , just driving by and saw you had one"

Like really?

Too many busy bodies out there not minding there own business. It is crap like this that makes me really dislike humans.

Maybe it was a road kill?
Maybe it was a decoy?
Maybe it was shot and left on the side of a road and thus a poached animal.
Then again, what do I know..other than it is raining and I should be up near Meager Crk, but can not get time off from work to be there now...

I remember the CO's had a roadblock set up just south of the Olds turnoff on the #2 many moons ago.

Some ####stain had shot a bull moose, taken the head, and left the rest in the field.

I say good work to catch these people who give hunters a bad name.

I think he means he saw the moose head sticking out of the CO's truck... Not some guy in the line-up.....

Yep and yep.

To the rest of you are, actually nevermind. Just know I wouldnt be posting it unless I was pretty damned sure. This site is pretty much stor.. damnit nevermind.

I went back and re-read the sentence. Makes more sense now!
Let this be a lesson to everyone! Stay in school!! Sorry OP!

No problem. Lets just say after working roughly 70 hrs this week between two jobs, I dont have time for bs. But apology accepted, but not needed.

we saw a large moose (head and antlers) sticking up out of the box of an older F250 going by heading south just the other day. I assume all was well and legit, but I do know for a fact that my mouth was watering oh so much, haven't had a moose steak for well over 10 yrs!

This sentence by the OP is the problem in a great many of the spats on here: "Also i think you guys need to re read or actually read this part."
And yes, I have been guilty of that too, as the OP knows!

I may have been a case of accidentally shooting the wrong size/### and the hunter self reported. Or it could have been one of the other scenarios already posted. It is at best speculation on our part. Until you read of or hear a report of poachers being caught, it is what it is...

Maybe them CO's took an hour off for lunch and shot themselves a goll dang mewsie?
And they're waiting for their wifies to come pick it up to take home.

Pretty Ballsy, given the traffic on that highway. Lot of moose poaching around here.

Grizz

I have had a few hunters in my cab (drunk), boasting about poaching and getting away with it. If I had more evidence, or phone numbers and pictures or just something to work with I would have called the CO's on them.

But it disgusts me how many people poach and the sheer number of non natives people who just grab some random native to legitimize their poaching.

just wondering OP, what's it like driving cab these days? I did it for a short time when I was a young whipper snipper and quite enjoyed it, however I didn't like getting send into the North end in the late night, calls like like go down the alley, knock on the back door, (no lights on), but other than those calls it was fun for the most part. I'm retire now and could use the extra coin, been thinking about driving cab again, but I'm old now and not sure if I could defend myself against a knife or broken jagged bottle. There is an opportunity of a rural cab job, owner says for the most part it would be driving folks to and from the city airport, sounds good, but it's the "for the most part" that has me a little worried!
