Loose-ish forend on 870 express?

My 870 express has a loose forend it seems. When the forend is fully forward, the gun is unloaded and "uncocked", I store it in the upward position in my safe. The forend seems to fall a few millimeters. Like there is some play in it. But if you rack the forend back and then forward again so that it can only be relased by the "tab" (i forget what it's called) then it locks up tight.

Anyone else experience this?

What about ithaca m37's

Hello Im wondering if you guys know if my ithaca m37 is the way it should be also, quite sloppy the bolt is, therea always about 1/8 of an inch of play even when the slide lock is in place, it just seems to me that when i fire it off it would slam the bolt back into the slid lock and eventually damage it, what you fellas think?.
