loose op rod guide

evening gunnutz, I have a new to me shorty I picked up a little while ago. the op rod guide is loose like it was on my socom. on my socom I drilled it out and punched in a bigger pin and it was solid. I am just woundering if there is an easier way to do it. maybe jb weld? thanks in advance!

I just got myself a 305 and have the same issue. Was looking through stickies when I saw this thread. What does dimple the barrel mean?

Pop out the old roll pin, slide the op rod guide off the barrel. Peen the barrel with a hammer and punch, dimpling the surface where the oprod is mounted. This will make it tough to slide back on, apply red lock tite, slide op rod guide back on and replace the roll pin. Let it dry, and your oprod will be tight

In the end use what ever witch craftery you want to, its your rifle. OR you can use the tried and proven method.

Indeed this. I did this at one of Barney's clinics and it's easy and effective. I'm not very knowledgeable about the properties of red Loctite but I suspect it holds up to heat better than ordinary epoxy.

Interestingly, the guide on my Socom M305 is tight qnd solid...

My shorty is rock solid also, still got a replacement guide and a couple pins from brownells just in case. Do these loosen up after time??
