I bought my 858 with the folding stock and i like it , except it's short by about 1 inch for proper length of pull . I'm thinking about cutting an old recoil pad and with two part epoxy , glue it to the butt plate . I don't want to make a mess so i'm open to any suggestion using any material to get one more inch that won't look like a junkyard dawg made it . Anybody ?

Though I dont own one, there are aftermarket slip on pads for AK folders that other members use. The only downside is you cant fold the stock all the way with them on. SKSman sells them for sure, I dont know if there is a Canadian retailer. Failing that, sandals are the next big fashion statement in buttpads. IIRC spongebob and hello kitty are the ones to get :p

I just bought a couple off of the EE and then got a welder from work (much better at welding then I ever want to be) to cut one and add a 1 and 1/4' section from the other to keep the same metal look and make it pretty.Works much better now. In hindsight it would be a lot cheaper to just get a piece of key stock welded in and then do the Paracord wrap covering. Then only your haidresser would know how it became longer.

This issue seems to pop up quite often, people find the LOP too short. I don't get it, what stance do you guys use? If you look at people with AR15's they always keep the stock almost down to the smallest setting. Do you put your elbow up like a chicken? Try tucking it down to your side.

some people are just too tall for this to work

Yep 6 ft 5. Stevo talked to me about standing square to the target and that did work but my muscle memory is the old style, left foot foreward, body at an angle.I work with the way my body has assumed postion for the last 37 years when shooting in the standing position. I have enough sxxt to think about without changing what has worked for me.

I also wanted my folding stock a bit longer to be able to cowitness with my rear aperture sight and my red dot. Works great now. Should have done this first before trying out four different stock options looking for the perfect sight picture.
