Lord of War Type Container Vault Interest ?

I'd have a false wall at the far end, or at very least a hidden compartment of some sort so can keep certain things even more private. Just because.
Spray insulation is also an excellent sealant, so could serve two purposes.
Would be humidity issues, but if wired for power, easily dealt with.
PVC strip door would serve no function other than coolness, so should be seriously considered.

Wicked idea, would have to see pictures and such to asses.
Initial thought is I get the bigger safe Idea but going over dimensions, Seems too small for me personally for the price.
Not sure on the stock photo but that size would probably be more ideal for me anyways. I would say if you could have it done and set up with all the goodies
market would be 5-8k. which would be tough I think. realistically I can see this ending up around the 10k mark and then moving costs 1000-1500
could be totally wrong however. but tagged for interest this is a cool project cant wait to see.

cool idea, but it's even easier and cheaper to just build the same size box with ICF and concrete, and that you are not getting into anytime soon, seen it done, still about 6 grand done, even the ceiling was concrete, and made with ready built lego like foam blocs, extremely easy to build with, and the one i saw,was cast all in one pour, and the only way to remove it is destruction, which will take a while,6 inches think concrete with rebar is a ##### to tear down,LOL.

You are missing out on that translucent blueish rubber curtain, that’s the spirit of his vault :p
But green ones are even batter imo.

Foody enough for you?

Ha ! Best post so far, for the win !

These can be had in anything from 40' to these little 7' units. Just depends on your space and your wallet.

No, they aren't cheap, not are they for everyone. But. They are bloody cool and I'm thinking that the final product will be worth it if you can swing it.

I could park a 30’ in my Quonset hut and park my Harley’s and my buddies bikes on top for winter storage. This is looking like a better and better idea. What’s the cost on a 30’er?

These are just shipping containers that are being modified so whatever you can find them for. You're most common sizes are going to be 20 ft and 40 ft, along with a smattering of really tiny cubes under 10 ft in length like the ones being proposed in the initial post here. Then you've got interesting units like the 20' open side containers which I've always thought would be awesome for a hobby shop.

Shipping containers are only really strong on their corners so stacking stuff on top isn't really an option unless it's another sea can or unless you build a platform or structurally reinforce it so that it is capable of supporting weight. The sheet metal used to manufacture shipping containers is of a light gauge mild Steel and really doesn't serve any structural security purposes. Not saying a gun safe is much better but I do think that there would need to be some precautions taken to make it so you can't just Swiss cheese this thing with a stolen Milwaukee M18 zippy cutter and walk right in.

The biggest benefit to the c-can is probably it's nondescript appearance, although a bit odd when stored inside.

Oh I’d build a platform and lift for sure above it so I could also use it for other storage . The Hut it 24 feet tall so lots of room to go up with. I also have a 8’ security fence around my yard, hut and most of the house. Our two German Shepherds are not friendly at all and we put the fence up to keep them and the neighbour hood safe lol. I love my girls but oh man they hate people with a passion. That and my alarm system I wouldn’t worry to much about my place being broken into for any reason. The sign out front that says “Nothing on this property is worth your life!” Lol I have a picture of my dogs under it. I’d like to get something like this just to secure better my reloading stuff and other tools. I’d never store firearms outside my house anywhere, even in the hut. Not worth the hassle if something happened. They’d charge you with improper storage in a second if you were the victim of a break in.

40' seacan's were going for ~15K delivered in Sask about 3 months ago. Used to be $5K pre-covid. Smaller seem to be worth a little more per foot than the big guys, probably a space issue for resale. They are very cyclical in price, like ocean freight, goes up and down drastically with demand.

Anything with a lock on it is of interest to thieves as most thieves believe that if something is valuable enough to lock up , then it is valuable enough to steal . Our gun club has a series of 40 foot containers for the storage of skeet machines , law mowers , batteries , etc ; and they are pretty secure , but have been broken into previously when thieves focused on , and succeeded in breaking the lock . We now have iron cans covering the locks on the doors so that thieves have trouble accessing the lock with grinders or pry bars ; and so far , no more break ins .

A side door would be ideal so I don't have to open my garage to the world to access my super sweet seacan of doom.

And that is the real charm about these cans. They come in different lengths and configurations and because they are really just a steel can you can cut, hack, weld and modify to your heart's content.

My garage sees allot of moisture that a dehumidifier can’t keep up.

Could keep the boat outside in the winter, I guess. If there is a viable option for moisture.

Keeping any sea can warm through the winter is no simple thing if it lives outdoors. Even with 6" of rockwool applied to the outside and sheeted in, they are VERY hard to keep warm when it's -30.
We use sea cans at the shop for secure storage and kept inside are no issue.
