Just wondering if anyone has used one for stainless steel pins and how they liked it.
I'm looking to go with stainless steel pins, I just haven't decided on which tumbler to get (and these seem to fit my budget better).

Look a lot like the ones Harbour Freight sell... I use a Harbour Freight two drum ... it works great but I will likely buy something larger down the road. If you are into large volume then I would buy something larger.
 
I have a 2-drum Harbour Freight unit, a single drum Thumler's tumbler and I recently bought the big Frankford Arsenal tumbler. The small (3 lb drum) ones work fine for small amounts of pistol brass. I quickly outgrew the small units......so will you!

I just looked at the price of them and capacity and I think you would be further ahead to buy the Frankford Arsenal kit as it comes with a 10 pound drum 5 pounds of pins plus some cleaner. works well.

I bought the Frankford Arsenal unit a couple months back and really like it. Considering it comes with the SS media plus it's pretty high capacity it's the best deal going on a wet tumbler.
 
I don't have experience with the Lortone. Is the barrel round inside, or does it have baffels/hexagonal sides. Reason I ask is I'm told that the SS pins don't work as well with those models. Sounds like some of the guys above have some good experience though, and can tell ya.

Been using my Thumler Model B unit for awhile now. She's working excellently and been working well for 50-100 rounds of brass (depending on calibre). Since I'm not a high volume shooter, I have no problems with the capacity. The seals are great with no leaks to date. It's fairly quiet when I run it on my carpet. A hard floor will make a little more noise, and a slippery counter is liable to allow the unit to walk off the edge.

I've been using a few pounds of the Frakford Arsenal SS Pins. They are alright. Some are smaller, or bent, so I find one or two needing to be pushed out of a primer pocket and thrown away, but that's not a big issue. Lemi shine (Bought at Canadian Tire), warm water, and dish soap gets these things SPANKY clean. I run them for only a few hours, rinse, and let dry on a rack.
 
Just picked up a Chicago electric tumbler from Harbor Freight and some SS pins from Stainless Tumbling media with Lemi Shine. All for about 90 bucks shipped to the border. Going to try it out tonight!
 
I own Lortone. A prospector friend of mine told me to get it as in his opinion they are the best. It has run without a glitch for three years now. I do brass and tumble rocks with it.
With rocks the machine runs 24 hours a day for about a month and it doesn't heat up and the belt still looks new. I bought mine from Canadian treasure seekers but there is also a place in Capalano BC. I believe both offer free shipping.

I use a Lortone with ss pins. Works great, 5 lbs. pins, palmolive dish soap, Lemi Shine. Currently doing 100 .243 cases, and 80 30-06 cases. Never need to use any walnut shell, or corn cob media anymore. Use lots of soap and Lemi shine. Tumble time is 5 hours. Rinse with hot water, and dry by the air tight or outside on a sunny day.
 
I have had a QT-12 for many years. I originally used it with dry walnut or corncob media and I have recently gone over to SS pins. Either way, it works well.

The barrel is polygonal on the inside to provide agitation.
 
I have the Lortone QT-12 and like it a lot. All the masses talk about is the Thumler B, and I was inclined to buy one, but they were forever out of stock.

Bought it from canadiantreasureseekers.
 
Well I will say the SS pins work awesome.

1lb SS Media Pins
100 9mm cases
Very Small Drop of Dish Soap
1/8 tsp of Lemi Shine
Fill with warm water till just above brass

I tumbled for 2 hrs and the below pictures are the result on once fired brass.
