Lost love, the one that got away. What's yours?

KDX misses his FN. Feel the same way.

had one through the 80's. a fn belgium metric. black furniture. paid $400 for it back then, when the market was flooded with surplus israeli L1A1's for $200 a piece. i don't have the status now to buy another one.

it shot wonderfully at the range which was 200 yard limit. brother in law used to borrow it and shot long range with the guys at the dundurn military base, where they start at 600 yard and up, with iron sights.

never jammed, well balanced, and it made my colt sp1 carbine look like a mattel toy. much regrets.

Maybe i should have kept that 7600 CARBINE in 35Whalen

Sold to my cousin a " MINT"Rem 700 Classic in 8mm mag
Also a Really Nice Sako Hunter in .375H&H
Next one regret selling, a Rem 700 Mountain rifle DM in .243.
can't seem to find another one anywhere.

my brother inherited my dads Ruger 10/22 after he passed away. That little rifle was a source of pride for my father and brought the family hours of fun shooting it at cans and old cars near our cabin in Alberta. While it didn't really "get away," I'd love to have that thing. Thousands of rounds must have gone through it with nary a mechanical problem, save maybe from cheap ammo, and I dont think its been properly cleaned since the 80's.

Guys!! your going to make me start crying!! And women say that we don't communicate, and aren't in touch with our inner emotions....

2 of them:

Winchester Model 70 Featherweight, pre-'64 style, 6.5x55mm

Remington Model 700 ADL, rebarreled with a slender 1-9 twist 23" Lilja in 6mm Remington.

When I was selling guns for minimum wage there were quite a few that made me sad due to lack of funds.

Breda Garands 200$
SmLe that had been polished so much it GLOWED 100$
Colt 1911A1 in .38 Super 400$
Match set of Colt Missouri sesquinsentenial (sp?) revolvers (had been fired) 200$ each.
More as I think of them.:(

Brno 21H, double set triggers and in the sob sob, 7 X 57.
Loooeeegee must of owned it as the stock was cut short.
I did managed to locate an uncut original stock, but the rifle was loooong gone.
It would of made a superb rifle for my now hunting daughter.
Probably would of fit her perfect.........

One other was an over/under when I was a kid, ten or eleven wanting a shotgun.
Dad made me give this one up. Again, Loooeeeegee must of owned this one as the
butt had been cut. A 1" pad would of done it. Dad's buddy wanted $220 for it waaay back
then. No markings on it which concerned the old man. One of his other clay buster buddies grabbed it. We found out you could of added a zero to the price. I ended up
under due duress on my part with a Franchi semi light weight. I just hated that shotgun.
Back in the early eighties, pop bought me a brand new Browing Auto-5 3" Mag Light. Still sits in the box it came with. I forgave him.

This one didn't really 'get away', more along the lines of me giving it away to a good buddy when I acquired a long wanted Schultz & Larsen in 308 Norma Mag. The one that 'got away' was this Winchester model 70 in 300 WM.

...the Browning Safari in .375 H&H, with wood that made your knees go weak, that I sold to a board member a couple of years back...but at least it went to a good home.:) (If I had known he had an unfired 1935 Brazilian stashed away, he wouldn't have got such a good deal!:p)

....the NIB Colt Woodsman Match Target that I foolishly traded away...

....the custom 1911 Commander that was the most accurate .45 ACP I've ever seen....

....the authentic Paratrooper M1 Carbine, c/w original leg pouch, that I let Allan Kerr at Milarm talk me out of....

I think the cream just curdled in my coffee....:(

Browning 1886 SRC's .45-70 [x2]
Rem 788 in .30-30 Win

An Ishapor FN that would've kept me in the converted auto club....

I'm sure I'll think of more....
