Lost love, the one that got away. What's yours?

Krap, eye'm lost.????
PMS pills? I just got over Noel telling us his next of kin sold off all his inheritance and I was busy trying to help him re-establish his bounty and Lord and behold, he wasn't even born yet. What am I gonna do?????????????
Helping a yet to be born trying to replace all his inheritance?
And the Moosie in chit agin???????
Then those Victorian Island chaps coming in my back yard and doing Moosie and no offer
of liver?
And my lawn still isn't cut...............???????
Gernades.....where are they?
Rosie go sniff them out..........
Who'z Rosie?
You just wait.

;)I'll have to come hunt 'Swamp Donkey' in your neck of the woods. When it comes to liver, that's a whole other 'kettle of fish':p. For me, field dressing an animal, that's one of my first checks. I usually check the liver very close, turn it over and check again as to me, that will indicate the general health and condition of an animal. Then, if no-one wants it, I'll leave it on the nearest stump, for seed. Liver's not my thing. There's usually no shortage of people that are more than willing to accept fresh liver, especially from younger Deer. ;)Tie one up for me Luke:).

Not meaning to hi-jack this fine thread, but Johnn keep up with the Moose emblem... I like seeing it and I'd crawl a mile over burning desert sand for a feed of Moose liver :) .
This might sound dumb, but the toy I miss most is an old Savage 24 22mag/ 410 swapped to my hunting pardner / best friend.
He really likes it and it is a dependable little tackdriver, trouble is I can't find anything to swap him back for it.... :(

Thanks guy, and should I end up with a piece of liver looking for a home, I'll give you a shout and make connection arrangements. At our hunting camp, the guys do it up in a number of ways as well as some of the prep details. Again, it's just my 'taste' but one of the prep options is soaking over night in milk. Again, with my taste, I've told them all they're doing is screwing up good milk:p.

A couple of comments have been made concerning my photo posts, the content of and numbers. For me, this is where the old adage comes into play, "a picture is worth 1000 words" and that holds true in what someone is attempting to 'show' me or me to show them. Personally, I'd much rather look at, or show, a picture of someones firearm rather than try and interpret and decipher what they 'think' they have.

Winchester M-100 carbine in .284 Win. (Mint)
Winchester M70 Featherweight .257 Roberts that had a chunk of walnut that would put any supergrade to shame.
Spandau Gew 98 that had likely been in the hall closet since 1918 two years after it was made...

There's others too but I'm starting to get all choked up....

I know the feeling. That, in 300WM, as/post # 72 was what I gave my buddy.

No regrets. I've had a number of firearms 'given' to me and I decided, the circumstances being what they were, to reply in kind.

Mine was a Browning 1886 Saddle Ring Carbine and a Browning 1895. I managed to get another 86 SRC about 2 weeks ago though so things are looking up.

Chapparel arms safari classic takedown in 9.3x62. Fit me so perfect. Had a hard case and an extra mag. Drove 3 hours to touch her and spend 7 hours sitting in a chair waiting then was outbid by someone with deeper pockets. If that buyer is a member here if you ever want to sell it look me up.

My first New rifle...a Sako in 7MM Rem Mag. Beautiful piece of wood, palm swell, red recoil pad, realllllllly realllllly nice!!
I got it in the mid 80's from Barotto Sports in Downtown Cowtown. ;)...they had a fire down there and some of their guns had some water damage....very light little bit of surface rust on the floorplate...out the door for 500.00. I bought several others at that time too. Took a bunch of deer and a couple of moose in NFLD with it using my handloads....140 gr Nosler BT's.
I sold the rifle 6 yrs ago...along with...Sako rings, x-tra B&C composite stock and Levis leather sling...1300.00....I got a couple of new guns in the deal....but there's not too many days that go by when I don't think about that gun! sighhhhhhhh :( :(

Parker Hale Safari 30-06 my dad received as payment for a debt.

"Do you want it?" he asked.

"Nah, I don't need anything that big, I've got my 243," I said. I lived on a small island near Vancouver Island at the time and mostly shot the small deer there and some bears. Never imagined that one day I'd hunt elk and moose.

Then there was that Model 88 Winchester 308 and custom 30-06 US Enfield I could have bought off my old grade 22 teacher when her husband died.

1970 Plymouth GTX, 440 SixPak. 150,000 miles, rusted quarters but complete and still ran strong. Owner was asking $1,500 back in about 1986, just didn't have the cash.

the M70 Featherweight in the Bob, she may have been mighty pretty, but I bet ya a doenut, she did didn't shoot worth a darn! ;)

for me, a Ruger No.1 RSI in 7x57! I bought it new in the box for $600, at the Wadena (Sask) Gun Show, away way back! I put a used scope on it. Turns out that a bad scope was the reason, that she went down the road! Someone told me that full wood could play tricks going from warm to cold temps! Wasn't the case afterall! I'm Ben Brown (Bending Down), give me a hard shot steel toe size 10 in the butt! :(
Although, money wise it turned out A-OK, I traded it for a Rem Mod 7 Custom KS in 7mm-08. ($1400. dollar value range). But, I 'd rather have the No.1 back!
