Seems that there is a lot of interest in the Colt Python. Owning one or pining for one.
Have they really gone up in value that much since they stopped making them?
They quit making the Anaconda too. My guess is that there are even less of them around and they are only in stainless steel.

Greens are like Watermelons: Green on the outside, red on the inside.

I'm definitely not a revolver guy, but I love the Snake line. The best group I've ever shot was from my Python, 6 rounds touching at 25 yards.

Am I the only one that finds the cylinder release on Colt's to be awkward? I've only tried a few, but I find it less intuitive than S&W's.

I'm attracted to the Python because I consider it to be art which combines form and function. Accurate, smooth lockwork, beautiful and perfectly proportioned in every length from snubby to 8". The way the barrel shroud vent rib subtley slopes to the front sight is what sets it apart from many other equally accurate but not as visually appealing revolvers. I've got a small collection of various types but the Python is distinct and in a class by itself and because many others feel the same way, that's why they carry a higher dollar value

The reason why I love Python is a little bit silly. I am a big fan of a Japanese anime "City Hunter". The protagonist use a 6" blue Colt Python. That's why I am not interest in nickel or stainless, I only want a blue Python.

What is the allure of nickel?
Is the factory nickel Python scarce?
What is a factory nickel Python worth these days?

I dunno I like them better that stainless and since I have a blued already now I want a minty nickel plus I think they stopped making them in the 80's in favor of the stainless version.

BC Mike is right on point. Same reasons I have my pythons.

Don't know much about anime, except that my 14 year old daughter lives off the stuff.

Growing up in my generation, it was from watching Starsky and Hutch, the TV series back then, first tv show in my memory, to put the python and the colt 45 as co-stars, while Mannix, Cannon, Get Smart, and Hawaii 5-0 had their snubnose 38's.

God, I am getting old. LOL

I fell in love with the snubbie from watching those old tv shows. My first toys guns were more realistic looking than would be tolerated today. Shows like "The Detectives" and "Tightrope" were where my love of guns started.
