I don't know if this is appropriate, but Del selin in Vernon BC ( 250-545-6413) has at least 100+ milsurps on consignment from a collector that is downsizeing. Several different 22 trainers(2 ross), mausers and enfields etc. Not pristine, but most have all matching numbers and are priced at market levels. Give them a call, great people to deal with. bearhunter:) :) :)

Speaking of more surplus for sale, I've updated my sales on the Exchange forum for those who'd like to check it out. Just added 5 more pieces, look for a posting by me under Military and Black Rifles....

By the way do you have Del Selin's phone number or email address??

The Ross 22s are small an look like full stocked sporters, there is also an as new MAS and a No1 Mk1 short rifle in 22 as well, a pristine FN49 and toomany mausers and enfields to go through, There also seem to be several muskets in very nice condition. :D bearhunter

Right now, they've just received about 50 of the items to date, of which 10 or so have already sold (I know, cause I;ve looked at each and every single one of them and have bought two myself :D).

There's two Ross .303's, an M10 and an M05, the M10 being the better in condition. There's also a few Longbranch Lee-Enfields, some Savage Enfields, three No1 MkIII* Enfields, a few Kar98ks, and one full wood, all matching, Gewher 98 in damn good condition.

There's also a Swedish M96 target rifle, with the modified sights and front sight hood that's in pristine condition, both inside and out. Stock disk is unmarked for bore condition, and I doubt it's had many, if any, rounds fired since it was last checked.

Anyways, yeah, lots for sale, some items are a little on the pricy side, more than I would pay, and some are under market price, but there's examples from pretty much every country you could think of in the lot, though not all the guns have arrived, but they are ALL military surplus in one form or another. Best bet is to call, and ask for Art, as he's the man dealing with all these goodies.

If any of you folks are thinking about buying any German era Gew98's, K98a's, or K98k's as serious collectibles over the phone without any pics, make sure you get a 3 day inspection and return capability.

If you can't get that, then insist on some high quality close-up pics of the receiver and bolt face numbering, plus other markings. Of all of the genre of milsurp collectible firearms, this category is experiencing the worst skullduggery. Often it's not the seller you're buying a "bad" piece from that's the instigator, but rather it happened somewhere back through the buying chain of the piece. It then gets past down through a series of owners who bought it at auction, or from private sales. In some cases they know it's bogus and in other cases they're simply innocent victims themselves in that chain of ownership.

Of course, if you're just buying shooters and not serious collector grade material that you expect to appreciate over time, than it really doesn't matter.

If you're not sure, then get pics and post them here, or send them privately to some of our serious collectors. I'm sure you'll get a lot of help from many folks here. I know I have..............

Badger

I wish I knew about this place when I was patroling Vernon during the Oka campaign, summer of 90. I did not see any gunshops then!
However I did find the ladies at the pool table of Canadian Legion most friendly, the beer cheap and the blackjack table mean!

That being said, would you send a valuable, collectable rifle to a complete stranger for the sole intent of having them try it out, shoot it, handle it, etc for three days before having them send it back to you?

If so, you're a far more trusting man than I.

Collection at Del's

Once Art and Del have the guns catalogued in, pictures will be takeable and sendable for those who wish them, although only if seriously interested in buying. No requests for photos for the hell of it please. Full page ad will be in the next issue of Access, coming out in the next week or so. Three day inspection and return privileges will be given as well, non-firing of course.

Tanis' and Badgerdog's posts

Both are correct. There are a lot of fakes and such out there. This collection is mine, and I have listed items as accurately as possible. Art has also gone over everything, but I'm not perfect (according to my wife :) ). Badgerdog is correct that asking for pictures is best, as it can save a lot of time and shipping hassle. Tanis is also correct--a three day inspection period can be given if wish, but absolutely NON-FIRING. Buyers who shoot it, #### with it or break it will own it forever.

Yup, I agree, but I think we're talking a reputable retail venture in these circumstances and I doubt they'd do an inspection consignment, without holding onto appropriate contact and financial security information from the consignee.

In the past and just as a private CGN member, I have exchanged four or five rifles on consignment with "boltaction" with absolutely no security except personal trust. He's an excellent individual to deal with and highly trustworthy.

True enough, true enough. I was just referring to internet deals on the whole. ;)

... Be warned ! DeSelin's accept VISA and MASTERCHARGE !!! .... Nice people to deal with;be advised, you need to turn sideways to navigate the aisles ! ..... David K.

Yeah, it's one of the few old fashioned gun shops left, almost anything you need and a full service shop to boot. If they don't have it, they will do their darndest to get it. All of the people there are shooters/collectors when they get the time. They have a lot o mid priced new and used firearms as well as a really decent selection of normal as well as a lot of unusual stuff. bearhunter
