Hopefully any CGN'ers that go to SHOT this year can give us a "hands on" about the BEAST. It has alot of new features that I'd like to know more about.

Hmm that new NF does look interesting ... Might be the scope to wait for , to put on my bush gun... Wonder what the price point will come in at, would be nice to have a FFP. That rugged that comes in under my S&Bs

Apparently the beast isn't just an ffp version of their NXS. It has some new controls in the elevation turret. I don't know what they are, but its apparently revolutionary and a "game changer".

I was reading about it on the "Hide" apparently Lowlight has been sworn to secrecy?
sounds like they have bumped up the elevation per rev?

I think it has something to do with quick adjustments. It looks like there is a button or switch that jumps the turret one full rotation so that you never have to do more than one rotation of the turret.

From the SME himself, LOL

There is a lock, 360 brake, and a lock on top you turn...

Read the description on the website.

Intelligent Elevation, it does more than just dial, it has a way to vary

360 Brake, it locks the turrets anywhere you want, anytime you want with a flick

It's in there, the 20 mils per rev is only 1/4 of the feature

I'm curious to see how much better the glass is. If the glass is that much better and the pricepoint is decent, it could be a real winner, something I would definately consider.

Call me crazy but there seem to be a few interesting parralels between the BEAST and the S&B, Premier Reticles and USO.
34mm tubes
5-25 magnification
"high speed" turrets

I think they are trying to break into a different market.

:bigHug::bigHug::bigHug::bigHug:, the 1-6x scopes aren't going to last long....looks like 1-8 and 1-10 are to become the new standards for 3 gun at least

Latest info on the Beast turret system it that (for MOA) it's .5moa clicks (60moa per revolution, 120moa in total), then the little lever in front of the elevation turret is a + .25moa..

.. so if you need 38.75moa, you dial it to 38.5, then flick the .25 level for a total of 38.75moa

kind of a neat idea..

From the site:

The heart of the B.E.A.S.T.™ is its i4F™ intelligent four-function elevation control. Initial adjustments with the primary elevation knob are lightning fast, in .50 MOA/.2 Mil-Radian increments. An integral fine adjustment lever provides additional elevation adjustments in .25 MOA/.1 Mil-Radian increments. It is the fastest, most precise elevation control ever conceived on a riflescope. The patented Nightforce ZeroStop™ system, allowing an instant return to the shooter’s established zero point, is standard. A new 360-degree brake control allows instant securing of elevation adjustments.

The B.E.A.S.T. sounds great except for the turret. I don't want a turret on my turret so I can dial in while i dial in. (.2 mils on large turret, .1mils on small) I have big hands, and the controls are already fiddly enough. Maybe for a benchrest, but for tactical scope I would prefer the MTC from Schmidt and Bender.
