The SVD shares a common ground and or common design with the AK according to this magazine i got . however the romanian psl is a new design not based on the SVD which means it stands a good chance of not being classified as a varient if someone were to take it to court. keep your fingers crossed brothers .

It's totally opposite.

SVD doesn't share common ground and or design with AK, the only similarity is rotating bolt. While the bolt itself is also very different.

Romanian PSL is an AK. It's built on RPK. Civilian version of PSL is known as ROMAK-3. ROMAK is abbreviation for ROManian Avtomat Kalashnikova

x2 what Teapot said..you got it all backwards Kc

appears that i did put that wrong , damnit , there talking about something called a psl-54c .

i think what confused me is this statement "despite its widespread use around the world , the Romanian series of psl rifles suffers a serious case of mistaken identity. due to generally similiar lines and roles , this rifle is often confused with the SVD and many times incorrectly referred to as the Romanian "Dragunov" , while in reality the two rifles could not be more different .
