I was looking to buy a GSG 1911 as a training pistol and it just happened to turn out that a local shop had a Sig 1911-22 in Black for less than what Cabela's had the GSG 1911 for. They're essentially the same gun so I feel reviewing this is as good as reviewing the GSG 1911. Ran 375 rounds of CCI Mini Mags and 50 rounds of Federal Target ammunition.

On the inaugural trip, got a light primer strike with the Mini Mags after round 130. After round 200, I switched over to the Federal Target 40gr ammunition. Although it's a heavier round and isn't classified as 22LRHV as the pistol calls for, it ran through a box of 50 with one light primer strike. Otherwise, it cycled like a champ. By the end of the range trip, I had sent 425 rounds down the barrel with only the 3 light primer hits to speak up. No issues cycling otherwise. The finish held up well, with minor wear on the slide stop notch. Looks like the paint rubbed off, that's about it.

Camera wasn't working on my phone so I can't put up any target photo's. That said, I'm no expert marksman and I did pick this up as a training pistol. What I can say is that I was able to isolate a few flaws with my trigger press and I can already see my groups starting to tighten up. After the first 100 rounds with the Sig, I switched to my CZ SP-01 for 25 rounds. With those 25 rounds, only 13 were within a 2" radius @ 10m, the rest were within a 5" radius. Switching back to the Sig, I fired the remaining 325 rounds and finished out the session with another 25 rounds of 9mm. This time, I had 20/25 rounds within a 2" radius @ 10m. I found that my sight picture acquisition was better, and I wasn't yanking the trigger anymore.

The best way to get better with firearms is trigger time, but with a new baby in the house, I had to find a way to keep shooting for cheap. Picking up my Sig was an excellent decision, and I "feel" very little difference between it and my CZ SP-01. I highly recommend that every pistol shooter who wants to improve should pick a GSG 1911 up...or a Sig if the price just happens to be real good.

Glad you like it. Mine is running great for a .22 I get the occasional light primer strike and few FTFs when it get dirty but hey its a .22. My slide has some finish wear around the edges but the frame has no wear at all. Overall, its a great plinker.
