I've owned it now for about 6 months and in that time have grown pretty comfortable with it. I'm using it to load 38special and 45acp. I timed myself today, and after timing myself, it appears that I can make 150 rounds of .45acp in an hour without really pushing myself. This is in fully manual mode, but using a disk powder measure and charging die. I put the primer in by hand. I bought the safety primer setup, but it won't clear the powder measure when the turret spins around. I don't really mind though, it seems as if it wouldn't really speed things up that much. I do have one question though, will the optional lee swivel adapter 90477 allow me to put the powder measure in any position I want? I already have the auto disk riser on there.

The riser allows you to position the powder hopper in over the centre of the turret. It allows the safety prime to clear it as it turns.
I do find the safety prime to be the weak point of the entire setup, but still very useable. I've loaded a ton of ammo with this press.

As stated above .. Be sure to center the hopper/disk and all will be good. No need to use the swivel adapter. If u dont center it, you will never clear the priming stage.

Thanks guys, the way I need to have the die set up sizing/depriming means that when I screw the measure down snug it ends up overhanging the side enough to interfere with the safety primer. One option would be to pre-prime for sure. I think I will just get the swivel adjuster and be able to move the measure inside.

Not sure why you are having problems. I load everything from 32acp up to 454 in pistol calibers on the same press and all I needed was the riser. Odd indeed.

Well DaBear here is my setup. I'm using the 3 die carbide Lee dies. As I'm sure you know, the measure sits on top of the charging/belling case mouth die. Where I get the perfect amount of belling so as not to overwork the brass mouth, makes it so when the measure is screwed down tight, it hangs over the side. Maybe I should look at adjusting the charging die and accept that the belling won't be optimum. :)

Only other thing I can think of is,the bracket for the safety prime installed properly? I prime on the press and manage to get it done. It does bump once in a while. So I know there's not much wiggle room. I just use the stuff that came with the kit.

You will need to install the riser between the die and powder measure. This will raise the powder measure up higher to clear the safety primer assm. when it turns.

The disk powder measures can be taken apart and reversed 180 degrees so that it will not hang over the edge. My 9mm and 45 were proper with the way it came, the 40 needed to be spun 180.

Excellent info Travel240z, I will look at that if this happens again. I mulled over what Dabear said, and I adjusted my die about an 1/8th turn which was enough to put the measure out of the way, I just have to be a little more careful seating bullets now as the bell on the mouth is a little less, but all is now working. Now I'll see if that primer dispenser has cut any time of my production levels.
On another note completely, did you at one time own a 240z, my favorite car of all I've owned?? Mine was a 71 with an upgraded cam and weber carbs. I LOVED that car, but had to sell it for university tuition. :-(

Only using 3 dies in a 4 hole turret ?
I have 2 of these presses set up & use the Lee factory crimp die in the 4th hole
I load 32acp ,38 S&W, 38spl/357 , 9mm ,40 S&W ,44mag ,455 Colt ,45acp ,
My RCBS press has been collecting dust for years

Yes, I had a 73 240z with 72 carbs and intake and tuned exhaust. It was my favourite as well! Sold it to my brother for just enough money to set up for a summer job in a different province during university with the stipulation that I could buy it back at the end of summer. It did not survive the summer.......... not really my brothers fault.

Just a FYI when using the AutoPrime..I found that if you use the prime arm at the top of the stroke, it didnt function near as well as when it was down slightly from top. Made for easier loading of the primer into the seating arm. I use full stroke to size/deprime, back down slightly to load the primer and continue the downstroke to seat primer. Works very well once u get a rhythm going. Just a cautionary..As part of your rhythm, take a glance at the powder measure to ensure it is giving full strokes as they can back off and give inconsistent readings if not throwing full charges. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Yes, thanks for the advice Dabear, much appreciated. I had my head stuck in the idea I couldn't adjust it. I also didn't know you could flip the measure 180. Cheers.
