How are your groups? If you have 2" groups at 10 yards that are low and left you may need a sight adjustment. Have an experienced shooter fire your gun to determine if it is the gun sights or you. If you shots are looking more like a shot gun on the paper the keys are sights, grip, stance, breathing, and trigger pull. When I first started I made a cheat sheet from things that I had read and reviewed it before shooting. Please note you will have to change this to suite you but is a place to start. Also, flinching and anticipation of the shot can be a huge problem that you may not know you have. To cure these use dummy rounds loaded in with you live rounds at the range to see if you jerk the gun while pulling the trigger.
Stance – Ensure proper footing, keep hips and shoulders perpendicular to the target,
Grip – place gun in the right hand and sites should line up straight down the arm to the elbow. Place heel of left hand in the opening left by the right hand to completely enclose the pistol grip. Wrap left hand fingers around. Place thumb of left hand pointing straight down side of gun. Place thumb of right hand straight and resting on top of left hand. Do not use thumbs for pressure on the gun as this will through off the site line. The straight thumb on the right hand allows for a straight trigger pull. Leave your right hand relaxed and squeeze with your left hand over your right the left will do the aiming the right will pull the trigger.
Sights – the front site on your gun must be in focus. The target and the rear site can be out of focus. Keep both eyes open.
Trigger – use the pad of your trigger finger to pull the trigger. This is the portion under the finger nail. This will allow a straight pull. Do not stage the trigger in DA pull, this is not a real life situation.
Breathing - Do not hold your breath. Try to fire at a 75% exhale.
