Hey guys I was thinking of getting a low cost rifle in 6.5 creedmore and was looking for suggestions

I have a 308 gun I shoot mostly but I wanted to try out the 6.5 in something relatively inexpensive but accurate enough to try out the caliber. Was thinking maybe a axis but I was hoping for suggestions

Thanks

Savages are excellent shooters for the price. I had a Savage Axis in 243 and it was extremely accurate. The trigger was very heavy though and I had to do some work to it. If you go with Savage spend a little more and get the Axis II with the AccuTrigger, you'll be glad you did.

I have a Mark II BSEV .22LR and a 10T SR in 6.5 Creedmoor both with the AccuTrigger. It is a great trigger and is user adjustable.

I was in the same situation as you and I went with the Savage Axis II XP with the hardwood stock and it shoots great. It will shoot MOA and I have got .5 MOA with the Hornady Precision Hunter ammo. It does start to open up when it gets hot but that is to be expected with a thinner barrel.

With the increasing popularity of the 6.5 CM, I had no difficulty sourcing ammo from both of the 2 local gun shops here. Bulk ammo is a different story. I have yet to see any, although in the US ammo retailers often give a discounted price if a person buys 10+ boxes.

I see 6.5 CM at $35+ per box/20... that's about average?

I'm looking at buying the Ruger Precision Enhanced. Expensive rifle but I came into some money and want to give myself a nice Xmas present. I have experience with .308, .223 and 7.62x39, none with 6.5 CM. Seems to be a lot of people jumping on board as it has many advantages.

You won't go wrong with the RPR enhanced for a precision tool but if you intend to carry it, the ruger American predator would be the one to look at. Approx $639 at cabelas and has a medium contour threaded barrel, spend the extra money on a good scope and more ammo. Several positive videos on you tube.

Great cartridge so you can't lose.

I haven't seen factory ammo that cheap in my area. I only wanted to try a couple weights of factory, but have all the tools to reload. I couldn't imagine shooting precision guns ALOT and buying factory ammo.
