None of the above... I don't think many people know about the mossberg ATR 100 rifle for 299.99 at SIR. It's the same rifle that charter arms made called the raptor. I have the .270 and for the money it's a good tough hunting rifle, I get 1.5 inch groups @ 100 yds just resting it on a ladder and with cheap factory ammo. well worth the money.

Well I just came back from LeBaron, checked out the Rem 700 SPS... I could have had ### with it on the spot but the guy over the counter stopped me. The action was very smooth, so either the thing about it having rough actions is false or i just had a nice one in my hands.

me want.

I don't think I'm going to buy any of them, but if I had to buy a new rifle, it wouldn't be the Remington. I'd like to pay as little as a Stevens 200 costs, but I like a detachable magazine, so I would prefer the Savage 11/111 series which offers variants with that feature. (I have heard of the 700 SPS being offered with a detachable magazine, but I don't share Remington's belief that their products are worth a price premium over Savage's, and I just get turned off by their marketing.)

Actually, that is a good point. I prefer a hinged floorplate over a detach, but I'd take the detach over a blind magazine. The Stevens is blind.

I bought my Stevens .223 as a cheap pracice rifle, and the only thing I may hunt with it is coyotes, so the blind mag isn't an issue there.

Is the Remington a hinged floorplate?

I find the mag, hingeplate or box mag, issue more to do with your style of hunting. a box mag is really useful for coyotes (not counting targets of oppritunity :) ), if you are calling you can be in and out of the vehicle anywhere from 6-10 times a day moving between stands, if you run deer drives it would not be much different. But for myself it's not uncommon to load up in the mourning and come back at night so it is not much of an annoyance to use a box mag.

For a low cost bolt gun I would say if it does not have a box mag for me there would be red flags popping up. The box mag is the first best cost saving measure it reduces the price if the gun without effecting the general quality if the gun (meaning accuracy and reliability), tupperware stocks are a close second if not tied for first. If a low cost bolt gun has a detachable box or a hinge plate which are more expensive to made I have to ask myself where did they cut cost.
