Low (fixed?) power, really short scope?

I am looking for the shortest, most compact possible scope for ma Savage 42 combo gun in 22lr/410.

The sights are made of plastic and so cheaply made they are barely usage. Since the gun is made to shoot shotgun as well as rifle, I want something that wont make it impossible to use the 410 properly...

I found that the Leupold FX-II 2.5x 20mm ultralight scope is popular down south but I can’t find any in Canada! What are my other options?!

The scope needs to be short, like 8 or 9 inch AT MOST. Otherwise it will interfere with the hammer and it won’t be possible to store the gun in my backpack anymore.

What about a red dot? Utg bugbusters have good reviews. Not sure of the specs on them though. I have a bushnell ar223 on my short 22. It's a good scope 1-4x24 I think.

Oups forgot to say that I’ve tried with a Vortex Venom reflex sight. When the venom is mounted on the picatinny rail it is too high to get a good cheek weld. And I’d also prefer not being dependent on batteries... It was meant to be kind of my “do-all” truck gun that I could have with me all the time in case I find a small trail where I can maybe find small game.

If the venom was too high for you, I doubt any conventional scope will be much better.

Perhaps you should look at building up the cheek piece a bit? I used some closed cell foam sleeping mat and electrical tape to address that issue with my savage mark II, then threw a stretchy shell holder over the whole thing so you can't see it.

I agree

There are other options to a bubba cheek riser --> https://godagrip.com/cheek-pads-2/

I've used these for a couple of years and they work great.
