Anyone have any leads on where to find a low mass bolt carrier in Canada? Seems like most everywhere I have looked is currently out of stock. Or if anyone knows of a Canadian distributor for AP Rhino? Thanks in advance!

Thanks, I forgot about that one since I was looking at the stainless on your site. I actually picked up a lot of the parts for this project from you guys already, do you know when or if you will be getting the V Seven titanium back in stock?

like the JP, but can you bring instead the Faxon LWBCG or the Rubber City instead, much cheaper than the JP and still works. thanks

It's not hard to do it yourself.

I took aprx 2 oz. out of a $50 DA stripped carrier with an angle grinder, die grinder and some elbow grease.

I got a faxon one thru (a name that gets blurred out for some reason), took a while, but I wanted the forward assist, and bolt matched to the faxon barrel

Im oldschool and dont trust titanium , so I wanted to stick to the proven steel ones

They also sell the taccom soft spring and low mass buffer (0.6 oz), it dosent really act as a buffer when the bolt closes, but hopefully it wont cause any issues

Ap went bankrupt. Aaron has gone back to making cabinets and beds.

The receiver set I’m using has no forward assist so that isn’t a concern, I do however like the idea of Faxon since I’m also thinking of picking up their 10.5” pencil barrel instead of using the 10.5 Rainier Match I have that was going to go on there. The RCA has good reviews for the price from what I have seen as well, but I have all but convinced myself on the JP LMOS stainless mostly due to their enhanced bolt.

For the buffer my plan was to remove weights from a regular carbine buffer to lighten it up, but was also wondering about losing that dead-blow affect when the bolt closes (preventing bolt bounce). The other option was the JP silent captured spring setup, where I like that you can change spring weights to adjust it, it just seemed like it was adding weight compared to regular buffer and spring. Also going to be running an adjustable gas block to dial it all in.

I took my buffer weights out as well as modding the BC. Took around 4 ozs out of the combined BCG/buffer. No issues with operation or reliability.

smoken, are you sure it is OK to run a LW BC in a 10.5" AR? I've never heard of anyone doing it. I recommend you confirm that is OK and has been done before with success before you try it.

Shouldn't be an issue provided he has an adjustable gas block.

Yeah I have heard of people doing it, haven’t seen it firsthand though. Will be running a Superlative Arms adjustable block, which I have been happy with on other builds. Anyone have experience with the adjustable gas keys?

The RCA one works fine on my lightweight BCG.

is it ok to remove a weight from a buffer, or do you have to replace the weight with a lighter one to fill the resulting extra space?

I have a VLTOR A5 and have some ejection issues with a new upper and new loads - gun cycles on the softer side. I'd like to try a few oz lighter buffer. Can't find anyone selling the A5 ones up here.

And how much is there usually in a buffer? definitely a much cheaper alternative to starting the cyclic weight reduction process.
