Just curious what gas blocks you guys are running under your LaRue rails. I remember I had a DD one a while back and it wouldn't fit properly. You would have to remove it to install the rail because it's profile didn't fit through the back portion of the tube.

Midwest Industries' LPGB worked perfect for me. Picked it up from Alberta Tactical Rifle. Rail slid right over no problems.

You can always cut off your front sight and reshape it with a file.

I'm using a Daniel Defense 16" CHF barrel for this next build and there is no front sight to cut down.

I would love to get on of DD's new pinned on style gas blocks and have it pinned on this barrel. can anyone recommend a competent gunsmith to get this done?

I drilled and pinned the Larue block on my midlength CMMG barrel. I clamped it on to my drill press table and slowly started to drill into the side. I measured it so I just cut into the bottom of the barrel. I hammered in a roll pin and then filed down the ends flush with the contour of the block. It didn't come out that bad, but you have to have the nerve to do it.
Then again I caused all kinds of controversy around here awhile back when I took a bench grinder to a brand new Stag rifle. :stirthepot2:

YMMV,

Noveske Under my Troy. I'd say that Noveske is the slimest one out there, theres no bump/profile on the bottom of it, it's perfectly round and matches the profile of my heavy barrel. The top is also very slim with just enough meat to encase the gas tube...
