I want to put my midlength quad rail on my DPMS M4.

I've read that it can be a troublesome thing to find a FST that matches your barrel (my barrel seems to be .745"). That being the case should I look at buying a low profile gas block or just cutting my old FST?

NaOH, just a thought since you mention using a mid-length on your M4, make sure your rail has an open end at the FSB or else the std length FSB will not fit, I ran into this problem trying to use an MI rail. If you do have an open end, I used the Badger speedblock from Wolverine since it's full length it covers both tapper pin holes.

I had the same dillema as you, but ended up going with the Samson CX-EBR rail, which has a cutout for a standard FSB, but remains free floating. Pretty sweet setup.

I just cut mine. Took about 25 minutes with the dremel tool, with some sanding and filing to nice it up a bit. I painted it with barbeque paint when I was done. Now, in regards to the paint, remember to let it sit for 24 hours before you take it out. I had planned to shoot it the day that I painted it, to heat it up and cure it. Lo and behold, I had to wait!

I've got the rail system that you require, at a VERY low cost! Troy MRF-MX. I can't seem to move it, not enough people want to do exactly what you're doing.
