Low Recoil 12 gauge

Im looking for a low recoil shotgun and a shorter length of pull.
I was thinking about the the remming ton versa max, any opinions?
 
If you want low recoil and a shorter length of pull look at a Beretta 391 RL(Reduced Length) much better quality and reliabiltiy than the remington. Also comes with shims to make stock adjustments. Buy quality and buy once.
 
Gas operated shotguns do spread the recoil out the best but as mentioned all 12 gauges have significant recoil. If you choose a heavier gun such as a sporting model produced by most manufacturers and put on a quality recoil pad like a Decellerator or Limbsaver you would get the lowest recoil possible. Because of the short lop you require the Kick off system by Beretta is out which would have produced the lowest recoil. I have a short LOP and shoot an O/U with field loads and don't find the recoil too bad since the stock fits me well which is another factor in felt recoil.

A heavier gas auto 12 ga., which can cycle light target loads, with a good recoil pad will be about as soft as you can get. The only thing softer is the old Remington 1100 20 gauge standard frame gun.

If you are only looking for a shorter LOP and can handle the weight, there's no need to go to a Youth-sized gun. Take any gun and have a bit trimmed off and fit a good pad.
 
Put a reddot on a benelli m4super90. I shoot clays with it all the time with the ghost sights. Id hold the butt upto my nose and shot it if i thought that was a safe practice. just trying to say its the lightest hitting shotgun i have ever fired and adjustable length of pull.

the a5 has more recoild then most pumps ;) ive been shooting a 12ga since i was 11 light feild loads to start then when i hit about 13 i was about 6' or so and 180lbs my uncle gave me some buckshot and slugs i fired them and if i remember right i said something along the lines of was that it :p.

i dont really notice the recoil on just about anything i shoot but that said theres no such thing as low recoil on the gun it self. but i do load some loads that to me feel like im shooting a .22

your best bet is to have the gun fitted to you and have a recoil pad put on it even if a 20ga dose not fit well it will give you problems
 
It's not hard to assemble a pump gun that shoots softer than a standard issue
auto. Mesa Tactical sells AR-15 type stock kits that give your gun flat line recoil
to eliminate muzzle climb & cheek slap. To greatly reduce the recoil impulse,
Mesa also sells the Enidine Shot-Shock recoil buffer which replaces the standard
AR buffer tube. This buffer takes down the recoil impulse by about 70 pecent and
makes for a soft shooting 12 ga. that won't wear down the shooter in a 300 target
claybird shoot.
My trap gun is this Remmy Tactical which is a soft kicker and a howl to shoot.

Stock fit is the main item to look at. If the stock fits you then there is less felt recoil. The second item to look at is the amount (weight) of shot that you are putting out the end of the barrel along with how fast. So, obviously 1 3/8 oz. at 1350 fps. will recoil more than 1 oz. at 1145 fps.

Gas operated semis will also use up some recoil.

But the main thing to look at is how the gun fits you. The better it fits, the less recoil you will feel.
