I have cheap Williams Fire Sights on my M&P and the F/O in the front sight keeps breaking and I'm tired of replacing it. What are good hi visibility sights that sit low similar to these?

You mean the little FO rod breaks off, (usually at one end), and the rod falls out?

If so, each time you clean the gun, give the rod a little wiggle test, front to back. It cannot have any slop in the sight housing. If it has slop, it'll slide back and forth with each shot and break off one mushroomed end.

If you feel slop, bring out a lighter and melt one end so it's tighter against the housing, and will not move.

I think it's actually the holster causing it to break, had it happen 3 times now doing draw drills with no firing. And I have seen the rod break in the middle, not just the ends. I've replaced it as tight as I can get it and it still happens. The Williams sights are junk anyways, very soft metal, one side of the base got mangled pretty bad installing them with a brass punch. Think at this point I might just as well replace them...

Interesting..... maybe as a test, stack up a couple mm of tape on the FSP while doing draws. See where it may be rubbing, and file away some material in the holster, if there is room. That sucks.

If it's the holster it probably won't matter what FO set you get but something from Dawson Precision should fit the bill.

If what you want is a red fiber optic front that won't break, I had good luck with the HIVIZ 'overmolded' front sight, which used to be available from Brownells.

It's not on Brownells' website at the moment, but they do have the HIVIZ 'lightwave' in stock, and Brownells will special-order (available) merchandise, for a customer, upon request.

Question: by any chance are you hitting the FSP on the holster when you reholster?

A safety issue I’ve seen with new holster users is some seem to jam the gun in the holster, sometimes without looking. When doing this in live fire, it can be an accident waiting to happen. Reholstering should be slow and deliberate, and always look at the holster when doing this.
