i just put a 3200 elite 10x on my m14 with a arms18 mount. it is mounted with med prw? rings and sits pretty low. the guy at wholesalesports who put the rings and scope on my gun said that i should be concerned about shells hitting the turret on the side of the scope (which actually does come out quite far) he basically told me that unless i put some rubber around the turret the scope will get beaten to death in a hurry. is this a legitimate concern? im concidering maybe going back and getting a high set of rings that have the see-through holes or something so that the scope sits higher...would that reduce the risk? let me know what you guys think.

check to see if you could get a shell deflecter i had the same problem on my sks, and yes i have owned a, m-14 , it was ejecting straight up ,so it would hit a scope if i had put one on

here is a pic of how the scope is sitting....cause for concern?

I'd shoot it and after a couple of rounds look for case marks on the windage turret.

I had the same set-up at one point in time and had no problems with the wind. turret getting hit by cases.

This is one reason I prefer the Smith Enterprise mounts.;)
