Lower mainland ar15 deactivation?

I thought about that insanity for a moment fore responding and took offence to your implied superiority over a “ lot “ of us . Forgive me ( or not ) if I took your post the wrong way . Feel free to correct me .

I HATE wearing a mask and don’t for one second buy the spin that it helps , in fact I firmly believe it is making health matters worse for those forced to wear them for extended periods of time. However , have you tried making a single purchase out there nowadays without one ? I need the essentials to carry on and can’t get them without playing along for the few minutes required to get them.

So please , regal us all with the details on how you manage to elevate yourself to the lofty level of referring to “ a lot of you “ as some kind of easy push-overs . Maybe , we’ll all learn the wisdom of your ways and be able to rise up above this insanity , with credit to you ?

Yes, I never wear a mask and have never once had trouble finding "essentials". Well actually, I will wear one when going into the stores my friends work at just because they deal with me enough outside of work and I don't want to make their job harder by being defiant. But other than that, no mask for me.

I've only dealt with three gunsmiths in the Lower Mainland; Dlask, Hical and Siwash Sports. I would assume any competent gunsmith could deactivate an AR-15 tastefully. I don't recommend Siwash at all. So between Hical and Dlask, I would definitely go with Dlask. Shoot them an email to get a quote I suppose.

I don't believe he's doing it now. I think hes waiting until the last moment. At least, I hope.

Understandable, for myself the thought of deactivating a rifle at the moment is like waving the white flag right after the oppositions first shot.

Sorry.

Thanks for the extra ideas btabin.

And just to put the insinuating to a rest, I will be waiting until the end before deciding what to do. No rush at the moment, especially with the latest revocation letter rulings.

Just curious who deactivates around Vancouver, and a ball park figure for cost? For an ar15.

Just gathering all options. For a Lego gun like this, deactivation seems like a decent option.

Edit; of course I want nothing more than the law to be reversed and to shoot the thing more. But I don't sell guns, I just buy em. So if the confiscation goes through and grand fathering doesn't happen, this is my last option to keep it.

Unfortunately it's restricted so unfortunate boating accidents don't get ATTs and Mike in Canmore wasn't interested.
With this kind of attitude there is no future for this community

deactiving the gun will ruin all the parts on it including the barrel and trigger etc which all need to get welded up. all of those parts are still legal to have and usable in other guns so ruining them is dumb.

if worst comes to worst I will be destroying my lower and upper with a hacksaw into a few pieces the day before the end... and keeping all the other parts in working order. I won't be handing them in for money. the law says you must report registered destroyed firearms within 30 days. so you can wait 29 days after the date to call. if police show up 2 weeks later demanding it you can laugh at them.... and tell them you just haven't reported it yet... there is no requirement to report non restricted destroyed firearms.

destroying and deactivating is 2 different things under the law. if I only destroy one side of the receiver I could likly still hang it on the wall and make it look complete from one side... with all components still functional if ever needed for another gun.
.
I sold my upper before the May1st ban. So I guess they just get a receiver that I will personally destroy myself without leaving the house. Then they can just take me off their list. They received nothing and I receive no compensation so we’re even. They will still count it as one for the buyback even though their hands or eyes never seen or touched it.

Whether it could be construed as defeatist or not, there is nothing wrong with creative and useful discussion regarding repurposing or salvaging material and guns as a whole to recoup at least some of the monetary loss that a lot of folks are facing. I want to cut up my guns about as much as I want to cut off my own dyc.

I'll be looking to either:
- export a few of the higher end guns if that is possible
- turning them into deactivated #### and click examples
- cut away examples
- cut one or two front to back with a bandsaw for wall art.

Let's say for the sake of the discussion that someone charges $250 to deactivate a firearm.

Send $250 to one of the court challenges instead, it's money better spent.

Your probability of winning the lottery is greater than losing your AR.

This is a much bigger problem for the government than they will admit.

This. Look at how easy it has been to get a lot of you to put a pice of cloth over your face to keep you 'safe'. Think about that insanity for a moment before responding!.

It's actually worse than that, it's an illusion of safety creating some very dangerous false sense of security or actually make things even worse by inhaling your own spit. And not only that, these diaper wearers actually attack those who understand reality and refuse to wear it.

Look them in the eye and ask if the masks really work ? They will counter with yes , then remind them they are safe and question what they are worried about. By their own dilusionable statement they are saved by their mask. They do not know you or care about you so continue on with their day and get out of your face. You will see some people with bewildered looks on the faces. I find it ammusing

A couple big box stores have cheap buzz box welders on for cheap. Pick one up and the evening that the law comes into effect weld it up good. Still have your property (although it's screwed) and you have a new hobby welder.

I'm pretty sure modern deactivation standards require the firearm to have no moving parts. They can't make #### and click or semi-functional cutaways anymore.

Except its not. If the courts don't grant an injunction, and the liberals win an election next year (even a minority) then we're ####ed.

See this is what I'd like to know. What is acceptable for a deactivated ar and who has deactivation credentials to sign off?

Thanks to all who contributed.

You take it to the same place you take your long guns in a few years. Personally i'm keeping mine. I've got lots, and they're getting none, I've donated to CCFR, went to Ottawa for the integrity march, and i'm not giving my assault rifles to the government.
Soldiers died for what we have today, so go ahead and deactivate yours, it's sock boy you're giving it to, remember, he also said currently we do not need licences to purchase firearms. He lies, I don't comply. I have a government job and pension I'll lose but my AR stays with me, i'm doing the right thing. If we all had my attitude we'd win but others don't have the balls.

Just my thought guys - I have a lot to lose like others but no kids to look after for example, I figure if there is a ton of non-compliance it could work but I have faith in CCFR calling out all of the BS they used.
