This is a last minute call to you lowermainland m14 nutz down on the west coast.
I am heading down to surrey on a kind of spur of the moment business trip/supply run, and will be staying at TonyG's while takin care of some business and picking up supplies. We were discussing the idea of having an evenin of coffee and donuts and Gas assembly Tig Unitizing :D as well as FREE , basic rifle inspection...... headspace, general fit and function ect
I will obviously have to cap this at a certain number , probably 10 to 15 but for now , seen as it's very last minute, you will have till friday evening to p.m. me with "clinic" as the message heading.
I am not sure exactly what afternoon/evening this will be but hopefully saturday or sunday this weekend.
rifle inspections and flash hider removals will be done that afternoon/evening and pick up your gas assembly before i leave for home next weds/thurs.
cost of unitizing will be sent by p.m. to everyone who confirms, TonyG has agreed to a "group rate" :D :D

so , I know it's short notice, but i think it will be fun. Dress warm as the shop is out back for those who have not been there.
Address will be sent by p.m. but is north west of guildford mall in surrey.

just got off the phone with TonyG and this sunday works for him. Anyone wanting gas assemblies done, will have to leave them with me on sunday and be able to come and pick up on tuesday.
I'll answer all p.m.'s related to the clinic on friday mar 4rth, have room for 15 people at least so if you are in...... post here and p.m. me ;)
 
So I've added the names of those attending to the first post.

for those who can not attend on sunday and are desperate to have your gas assembly unitized.... p.m. me. I will be staying at TonyG's for the duration of my stay and may be able to accomodate a 1/2 dozen more or so for just unitizing.

so we still have room for another 5 or so for sunday, speak up and p.m. me if you want in ;)

and for some of you that got my p.m's .... i read it after and noticed some awesome spelling mistakes LOL ..... like handout should have read "hang out" LOL and sending domeone to timmies....... that was supposed to read send the dumb one er I mean "someone" LOL :D :D
I gots to be the werst at speelling on the hole sight :D
 
My M305/M-14 came with a "flash hider" that does not have any slots or hole in it. It looks like it was meant for Kalifornia.

I have a request: if anyone has a spare 'flash hider' they don't need (Chinese, USGI, whatever), I'd be interested in swapping it from the uselessness on mine! I'm not going to be cutting my barrel down to 18" or anything, so if you are, I could use your flashider assembly, even without the front site piece on top (have that already).

I'll be at the clinic on Sunday, so we could trade/deal then. Rather do that before stumbling through the EE for now!

I've been to two of your clinics before, so no point in taking up a space that could go to a new guy.
I would like to get the parts unitized though. Are you still accepting parts?
 
This is going to be a very informal gathering in that only the basics will be addressed. So far the list is pretty short so no worries on overcrowding ;)
For those that just want unitizing done, feel free to drop in anytime after 4pm . Address will be sent by p.m. , when you arrive, park on street and walk down left side of house and to rear of property. We will be there ;)
 
Well, I had fun last night :D
Thought i would remind you guys on the items needed for treating your newly unitized gas cylinders
Outers liquid bluing is at can tire
Use a degreaser first with steel wool
Rinse in hot tap water
Dry
Apply solution and wait 30 seconds to 1minute
Rinse in ho####er
Dry then repeat 2 more times
Birchwood casey bluing kit will work too but the outers gives a much quicker and nicer finish
Treat entire gas assembly outer surface with CLP or a similar pnetrating gun oil
Be sure to clean inside cylinder with a non abrasive prior to reassembly
