I've searched around trying to figure this out but no luck. What's the deal with an AR lower marked "Pistol Only"?

I found a lot of regulations that involve US law but nothing that pertains to our laws.

Thanks!

Here in Canada it makes no diff. what your lower is marked.
It's still restricted no matter what is etched on the side

Yep, it's more of a CYA thing in the US, as they can't have a sub 16 inch barrel on a rifle, or a shoulder stock on a pistol without NFA registration. With so many virgin lowers on the market, and a variety of state rules about pistol sales, the markings make sense south of the border.

Here, it's just meaningless engraving.

Not totally "meaningless"... RCMP/CFC do look at this as part of the basis for when we submit an AR-Pistol to be registered as a "Handgun" instead of as a "Rifle".

When we import RRA AR Pistols or PWS AR Pistols we register them as "Handguns". They are BOTH still classified as "Restricted" though, so it makes no difference in that sense.
