Hello guys. Does anyone have a low cost source to dewat a prohibited .32 semi-auto pistol?

I have had quotes as high as $300 - $500 ; Epps charges $100 to dewat plus postage.

Does anyone have a source that can beat that?

Can you do it yourself, and then just have someone verify it?

The problem with that idea is one shouldn't have the "prohibited" gun in the first place. I was thinking of buying a prohib from the legal owner but he cannot sell it to me until it has been welded and certified.
Whether a legal owner can weld it up, get it inspected and obtain the dewatcertificate is unknow to me.

Maybe some of the members know about this.

The current dewat standards are extremely excessive and ruin most guns, especially handguns. Expect to see visible welds, big ugly rod in the barrel, absolutely no ####-n-click.

You're better off trying to get the gun rebarreled to .380 and extended to restricted length, then you can own it live! What type of gun is it? Nearly any gun can be saved including revolvers.

Found out about Collectors Source: The amount of work required depends on the model. We do fine work.....not buchery like other nearby gunsmiths. You did not provide model information so plan on $100 or $125 for deactivation and deregistration. Return shipping is additional.
